Port of Açu’s Adherence to Cubo Itaú Is the First Port Project Focused on Innovation and Digitalization with the Hub, Allowing the Complex to Focus on New Solutions to Make Logistics Operations Even More Efficient

During last Tuesday (04/19), the port complex Port of Açu announced its new partnership with the technology hub Cubo Itaú. Now, the port becomes the first to join the business and stated that it will focus on innovation and digitalization for even more efficient and profitable logistics operations over the coming years in partnership with the technology hub.

Port of Açu Becomes the First Port Project to Adhere to Cubo Itaú and Develop New Digitalization and Innovation Solutions in Cargo Handling Activities

Cubo Itaú is the most relevant technological business hub in all of Latin America and includes companies from various sectors looking for innovation solutions in their fields. Now, Port of Açu has become the first port complex to join the technology hub and, with that, will have new opportunities to further digitalize its logistics processes in cargo transport and storage operations throughout 2022.

Additionally, the partnership between the companies aims to stimulate the culture of innovation in the community surrounding the port enterprise located in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Thus, Port of Açu intends to achieve exponential growth for the port with efficiency, transparency, predictability, security, and environmental protection, becoming increasingly modern and adhering to digitalization in its logistics chain for cargo export and import.

The adherence of Port of Açu to the technological innovation hub Cubo Itaú also involved the creation of a roadmap of initiatives with support from specialized consultants and benchmarking with the largest global ports, such as Antwerp in Belgium. Thus, the port aims to invest in modernizing and digitalizing its infrastructure and optimizing its operations, as well as having in mind a technological training project aimed at the employees working in the complex, with the goal of ensuring greater knowledge about the innovation solutions that will be adopted for cargo transport and storage operations.

Port of Açu’s Adherence to Cubo Itaú Will Allow the Location to Become a Space for Innovation, Digitalization, and Technological Learning Over the Next Years

Cubo Itaú intends, in partnership with Port of Açu, to make the port complex even more efficient in its operations over the next few years by developing an appropriate space for the development and application of innovation and digitalization solutions in logistics operations. Thus, a specialized committee will be created for projects in this sector, so the port can discuss the best growth strategies with operational and environmental safety.

Additionally, José Firmo, CEO of Port of Açu, commented that this is just another step taken toward the modernization of the location: “Açu is a reference for port innovation in Brazil, investing in technologies and acting as a platform for the sector. Adhering to Cubo Itaú will strengthen our connection with startups and technology agents so we can continue consolidating Açu’s position as one of the main development hubs in the country. We will leverage the digital integration of the port, which will add value to the logistics and port solutions, generating even more efficiency and competitiveness for our clients and partners.”

Port of Açu is a reference in innovation and technology adherence in logistics operations, being the first port in Brazil to establish a VTS Traffic Service Center approved by the Navy and, now, aims to further expand this characteristic with the new venture.
