Partnership Between Rio Branco City Hall and Furniture Sector Ensures Production of Doors with Wood Supplied for Social Housing
The Rio Branco City Hall has advanced to a new stage of the housing project “1001 Dignities.” This week, Mayor Tião Bocalom met with businessmen and representatives of the furniture sector in the capital to formalize a partnership that promises to benefit both the population and local professionals.
The initial focus will be on the production of doors for social housing, directly involving carpenters and companies from the city.
The idea, according to the mayor, is to repeat the model of previous collaborations, when the furniture sector had already contributed to the manufacturing of beds and wardrobes in other social programs.

It’s not just China: a giant bridge was built next to the highway and moved into place during a 12-hour operation.
“It was a very productive and enlightening meeting. The idea is to provide the wood, part donated by Ibama and part purchased by the City Hall, so that the furniture makers can contribute their labor,” explained Bocalom.
One of the main challenges faced by the sector is the price of wood, which can reach R$ 5 thousand in the local market. With the City Hall supplying the material, the cost is drastically reduced.
The president of the Furniture Workers Union of Rio Branco, Augusto Nepomuceno, celebrated the formalization of the partnership. “Thank God, the partnership with the municipal administration is coming to fruition. We are ready to work and want to go beyond just doors,” he said.
Also present at the meeting, businessman Josimar Sabino da Costa highlighted that the initiative comes at a good time.
“Our sector is very precarious. We needed a partnership like this to revitalize the market. I’m sure it will boost production and create more opportunities for local professionals,” he stated.
The partnership marks a concrete step in strengthening the local economy and valuing artisanal work in Rio Branco.
