The Lightyear One, Solar-Powered Electric Car from Dutch Company Lightyear, Will Have a Sibling That Will Be Five Times Cheaper
Lightyear, the Dutch company that received an investment of R$ 600 million to create the solar-powered electric car, Lightyear One, will soon create a “sibling” of the model that will be cheaper and smaller. The company confirmed, in an interview with Carscoops, that the sibling of the Lightyear One will reach the end consumer at a more attractive price than the main model, which costs around 150,000 euros, or R$ 960,000 in direct conversion. Additionally, the new solar-powered electric car will be produced by Valmet.

New Version of the Lightyear One Will Be Five Times Cheaper
In order for the new solar-powered electric car (which has not yet had any images released) to be cheaper, it will have a lower range than the Light Year One, which is 725 kilometers, considering that it will be made with smaller and less powerful batteries.
The idea of the Dutch automaker, which also partnered with LeasePlan for the provision of 5,000 units of the new solar-powered electric car, is to launch the model in the automotive market by mid-2024. Each unit of the sibling of the Lightyear One is expected to cost around 30,000 euros, R$ 192,000 in direct conversion, a price five times lower than the one set for the main model.

The electric vehicle was developed to be a showcase model, which has space for two people. Additionally, the model features large wheels and a design that showcases the idea of a luxurious off-road car.
The Maybach has an unusual interior. Even with a length of 6 meters, it has only two seats, which can be reclined to lie down.
