Oil And Gas Industry Trains Youth In The Offshore Market Through A Three-Month Learning Path Focused On Quality And Safety.

On February 15, 2023, in partnership with major names in the sector, Equinor and SBM Offshore, UnIBP launched the bold program ‘Offshore Of The Future’. This program aims to boost the training of young talents to effectively operate in the offshore market for oil and gas. In just three months, this learning path offers quality and safety, crucial aspects in these challenging environments. The course is available for free, standing out as one of the most promising initiatives from the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP).

Mining And Exploration: Connecting Industries And Challenging Frontiers

The synergy between the mining sector and the oil and gas industry becomes evident with each new mineral exploration project. The growing demand for skilled leaders in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) reflects the importance of sustainability in these areas. According to the report released in June 2024, the extractive industry faces significant challenges but is determined to integrate technology and sustainable practices into its processes.

Experts predict that by 2025, the market will require a balanced approach between automation and environmental responsibility. This reflects a desire to make operations more efficient while reducing environmental impact. In this way, qualified professionals from both sectors come together to promote innovative solutions, especially in clean and renewable energy projects.

With advancements in exploration technologies, both in mining and in the oil and gas sector, the focus has been on cost reduction and responsible profit maximization. The strategies adopted by these industries are influenced by the need to adapt to ensure competitiveness in increasingly demanding global scenarios.

The Brazilian Institute of Mining (IBRAM), for instance, announced in September 2023 an action plan that anticipates investment in artificial intelligence and automation, aligning with practices adopted by the oil and gas industry. The results of this integration are already beginning to reflect in a more sustainable and promising market.

Brazilian Offshore Market

As these industries evolve, mining remains in the spotlight, embracing innovations that are critical for sustainable growth. In a context where natural resources are vital for industrial progress, the intersection between these sectors offers an encouraging outlook for the future.

Clearing Paths For The Oil And Gas Industry

Lasting three months, this innovative program will take place in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro and is planned to accommodate an initial class of up to 16 eager students. Applications will be open starting tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11, until April 4. Interested individuals should visit the UnIBP website: https://www.unibp.com.br/ to complete the application process. This program is a great opportunity for those wishing to enter the Oil and Gas sector, especially with the growing offshore market.

To enroll, candidates must meet certain technical requirements, such as being at least 18 years old and having completed technical education in specific areas like mechanics, electrical, electronics, chemistry, O&G, or automation. Additionally, a valid CFT registration is necessary, with proper proof filed in a recognized and accredited institution by the MEC. This technical qualification aims to prepare skilled professionals who will be ready to face the challenges of the Oil and Gas Industry.

Learning Path And Program Requirements

During this training period, students will have the privilege of participating in a comprehensive learning path, consisting of three theoretical modules held at IBP’s facilities, and one practical module presented at the renowned Duct Technology Center (CTDUT). Thus, the program aims to provide in-depth knowledge about the oil and gas sector. To support students during their training, a monthly scholarship of R$ 1,400.00 will be offered.

The course totals 353 hours, during which students will participate in monitored activities, complemented by an individual performance assessment. The selection process will be structured in multiple stages, integrating a knowledge test that will examine, among other criteria, intermediate proficiency in the English language. Selected participants for this stage will be notified starting April 22, with interviews beginning on April 28.

Opportunities In The Offshore Market

Notification of classified candidates will be made on May 30, while classes are scheduled to begin on June 16. Expectations are high, aiming not only to qualify participants but also to help them secure a significant space in the market. UnIBP works in collaboration with various leading companies to align the profile of professionals with the pressing needs of the oil and gas chain, consolidating connections that create new opportunities.

According to Karen Cubas, executive manager of UnIBP, the initiative is of great local value and significantly contributes to society’s development through business opportunities and initiatives. The partnership with IBP and SBM Offshore emerges as a pathway to create a positive impact in the Oil and Gas sector in Brazil. Moreover, recognizing the need for qualified professionals strengthens both the company and the value chain, serving as a powerful way to qualify the workforce.

Bridge To The Future Of Qualified Professionals

Victor Alves, specialist in training and development of people and leader of the Corporate University of Equinor in Brazil, expresses satisfaction in launching this innovative program together with IBP’s Corporate University (UnIBP), the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), and Equinor. The excitement is shared by Julien Dainotto, HR manager of SBM Offshore in Brazil, who reinforces the belief in awakening the potential of the new generation of Brazilian talents interested in joining the promising Oil and Gas industry.

In-person classes will occur from Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 6 PM, covering a rich variety of topics. Students will revisit fundamental concepts of chemistry, physics, and mathematics, in addition to acquiring knowledge about technical and regulatory aspects of the oil and gas industry. Skills such as quality, safety, environment, and health will also be addressed, with a particular focus on operational practices in the offshore environment. Participants will have access to innovative teaching methods, such as the PBL (Problem-based learning) methodology, and will be able to network with industry experts.

The state-of-the-art structure of CTDUT, developed in partnership between Petrobras, Transpetro, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), will provide an exceptional learning space for qualification and large-scale training.
