Mechanic Disassembles an EcoSport 1.5 with 124 Thousand Km and Reveals What Many Owners Don’t Know: the Oil-Soaked Timing Belt Can Disintegrate Inside the Engine, Generate Debris, and Cost More than R$ 4 Thousand in Preventive Maintenance
In the video published by the channel Cars with Tiago, the mechanic shows in detail the complete process of replacing the oil-soaked timing belt of the Ford EcoSport 1.5 three-cylinder model, with 124 thousand kilometers driven.
The recording follows each stage of the service, from the initial disassembly to the final cost of maintenance, highlighting the wear of the belt and the amount of residue found in the engine.
Start of Disassembly and First Signs of Wear
The maintenance begins with the removal of installations and components to access the engin. During the first inspections, the professional identifies belt debris in the solenoid valve. When running a finger over it, visible debris can be felt, indicating that part of the belt material has already come loose and spread throughout the system.

The professional uses a special tool to lock the engine’s timing, precisely adjusting the two upper camshafts. Then, he removes the engine mount to reach the cover protecting the oil-soaked timing belt.
With access cleared, it is possible to see that the belt does not show visible wear along its entire length. However, in certain sections, there are already signs of debris and color change, indicating the real need for replacement before more significant damage occurs.
Original Components and Complete Cleaning
On the workbench, the video shows all the components used in the maintenance: original concentrated additive, demineralized water, original oil and filter, original timing belt, and tensioner. The channel emphasizes that using genuine parts is essential to ensure the ideal functioning of the engine after the replacement.
During disassembly, the mechanic decides to also remove the oil pan, a step that reveals the more serious problem: a large accumulation of belt debris. According to him, oil often disguises the excess residue, but upon examining the suction screen, it is clear that the component is full of fragments, which poses a real risk of clogging and loss of lubrication of the engine.
Assembly and Checking the Engine Timing
After a complete cleaning of all parts – including timing cover, valve cover, and oil pan -, the team checks the timing again using the lower adjustment tool.
Next, the mechanic applies specific glue to all connections, following the original factory standard. The timing cover and oil pan are reassembled with the same care, ensuring proper sealing. Subsequently, the plastic valve cover is reinstalled, along with the connections and the new additive.
Final Test and Total Cost of Service
With everything assembled, the engine is started and the result is shown to the public: smooth operation and no noises, with all dashboard lights off and no failures. The professional then reveals the cost of the service:

The total cost of preventive maintenance for the EcoSport 1.5 comes to just over R$ 4,100, including all original parts and complete technical work.

Mão de obra não sei dizer o valor,mas meu mecânico( excelente mecânico) cobrou 1.000.00 porém ele fez outros serviços
Minha correia saiu como o esperado,sem muitas novidades,o segredo e óleo original,se usar outro tipo de óleo,com certeza ela começa a esfarelar de corre o risco de acabar com o motor
