Federal Institute of Espírito Santo Reopened 2,719 Slots for the Initial and Continuing Education Course in Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education. Fully online, the course aims to train Basic Education teachers to develop inclusive pedagogical practices. Enrollment is open until January 15, 2025.

Who would have thought that such a valuable opportunity could arise right at the end of the year? For many teachers, this chance represents more than just additional training — it is a pathway to transforming their pedagogical practices and contributing to truly inclusive education.

The Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (Ifes) surprised everyone by announcing the reopening of 2,719 slots for a 100% online pedagogical training course, something that promises to change the lives of many educators.

Ifes Launches Announcement for Inclusive Education Course

According to Announcement 158/2024, Ifes offers the Initial and Continuing Education Course (FIC) in Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education.

This course is entirely distance learning (EAD), with a workload of 120 hours, and is aimed at Basic Education teachers working in public or private schools.

The main objective is to train professionals to develop pedagogical practices aligned with special education policies, addressing the uniqueness of students and promoting inclusion in classrooms.

Topics Covered in the Course

The course curriculum is comprehensive and focused on providing complete and up-to-date training. Among the topics that will be addressed are:

  • Human Rights;
  • Diversity;
  • Inclusive Curriculum;
  • Inclusive Pedagogical Practices.

These topics allow teachers to acquire essential knowledge to effectively and responsibly promote school inclusion.

In addition, the content was developed to meet the latest demands of inclusive education in Brazil, ensuring that course participants are aligned with current public policies.

Who Can Participate and How to Enroll?

Enrollment for the remaining 2,719 slots is open from December 20, 2024, to January 15, 2025.

Enrollment must be conducted exclusively through the Ifes SIGAA platform. To participate, candidates must meet some mandatory requirements:

The SIGAA is a platform that ensures practicality and security in the enrollment process.

All steps for registration are explained in detail, ensuring that even those who are not very familiar with technology can participate.

Transparent Selection

According to the announcement, the selection process will be conducted through an electronic lottery, ensuring transparency and equity in candidate selection.

This measure ensures that all interested parties have a fair chance to participate in the program.

The electronic lottery, besides being fair, is audited to prevent irregularities. This reinforces Ifes’ commitment to an accessible and reliable selection process.

Impact on Inclusive Education

Ifes’ initiative is an important step towards expanding the reach of inclusive education in Espírito Santo.

Well-prepared teachers play a fundamental role in creating welcoming school environments and reducing barriers faced by students with special needs.

According to experts in the field, ongoing training for teachers is one of the most effective tools to ensure that inclusive education is implemented fully.

Through this, Ifes contributes directly to the evolution of education in the state and the country.

Importance of Ongoing Training

Ongoing training is essential in a constantly changing educational landscape.

Teachers participating in this course will have the opportunity to better understand the specifics of students with special needs and implement innovative pedagogical strategies that meet these demands.

Furthermore, the course addresses not only theories but also pedagogical practices that can be immediately implemented in the daily life of schools.

This allows participants to feel more confident and empowered to face the challenges of a diverse classroom.
