Brazilian Air Force Opens Enrollment for the Preparatory Course for Air Cadets. There Are 150 Vacancies for Young People Who Wish to Pursue a Career in Military Aviation.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced the opening of enrollment for the Admission Exam to the Preparatory Course for Air Cadets (CPCAR) 2026, a unique opportunity for young people who wish to pursue a career as military pilots.

The course, held at the Preparatory School for Air Cadets (EPCAR) in Barbacena (MG), lasts three years and provides high-level training for future officer aviators of the Air Force Academy (AFA).

Enrollment is open until March 26, 2025, and can be done directly on the official FAB website. To participate, candidates must pay a fee of R$ 100.00.

A total of 150 vacancies are available for both genders, provided the candidates meet the requirements set out in the announcement.

Who Can Participate in CPCAR 2026?

To enter the course, interested individuals must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be at least 14 years old and no older than 18 years old by December 31, 2026;
  • Have completed Elementary Education before the Final Concentration Date of the Exam;
  • Meet all the conditions outlined in the Specific Instructions of the Exam;
  • Pass all stages of the selection process.

How Does the Selection Process Work?

Admission to CPCAR is highly competitive and takes place through several eliminatory stages. Check how the selection will proceed:

  • written tests: Candidates will take exams in Portuguese, mathematics, English, and essay on June 22, 2025;
  • Health inspection: Detailed medical evaluation to verify physical fitness;
  • Psychological aptitude exam: Psychological tests to identify the candidates’ profile;
  • Physical conditioning assessment test: Tests will be conducted to assess physical performance;
  • Complementary heteroidentification procedure: For candidates opting for reserved slots for Black individuals;
  • Document validation: Verification of mandatory documents.

Candidates who are approved in all phases and selected by the Special Evaluation Board (JEA) must present themselves at EPCAR on January 10, 2026 for enrollment habilitation in the course.

What Is the Course Like at EPCAR?

The Preparatory School for Air Cadets is a military educational institution recognized for its excellence in training future FAB aviators.

For three years, students receive high-quality secondary education combined with specific training for a military career.

The academic routine includes:

  • Regular Secondary Education subjects, such as mathematics, Portuguese, physics, chemistry, and English;
  • Military instruction, focused on preparing future Air Force officers;
  • Intensive physical training, essential for developing endurance and discipline;
  • Leadership training and military values, crucial for a career in the FAB.

CPCAR students are boarders, meaning they stay at EPCAR throughout the academic year, receiving lodging, meals, and medical assistance.

Upon completing the course successfully, cadets obtain the certificate of completion of Secondary Education and of CPCAR, as well as the opportunity to compete for positions in the Air Force Officer Training Course at the Air Force Academy (AFA).
