The chance you’ve been waiting for has arrived! The Secretary of Education (Sedu) is offering hundreds of spots for students to participate in a completely free exchange program with all expenses covered, in three countries: Canada, United States, and Chile. The selection process offers scholarships for intensive English and Spanish courses.
The Student Exchange Program for Canada, United States, and Chile aims to enhance students’ communication skills in English or Spanish and develop their ability to express themselves proficiently in various communication situations, promoting socio-educational development in a foreign country.

Free and Intensive English Course as a Foreign Language:

- Health insurance, consular visas, cost assistance, passport issuance, airfare, and transportation vouchers for commuting during the course period.
Free and Intensive Spanish Course as a Foreign Language:
- Deepening knowledge of the Spanish language at an institution specialized in language teaching, lasting approximately three months.
- Immersion in foreign culture through everyday experiences that the exchange student will go through.
- Accommodation in a host family registered in the exchange program of the contracted agency, including two daily meals.
- Health insurance, consular visas, cost assistance, passport issuance, airfare, and transportation vouchers for commuting during the course period.
Distribution of the 170 Spots: The exchange spots for the United States, Canada, and Chile are distributed by modalities as per the table below:

Selection Process for the English and Spanish Courses
The selection process targets students enrolled in State Language Centers (CEIs) and selected through the Notice No. 10/2023. It is noteworthy that students who have previously benefited from Sedu’s Exchange Program scholarships in previous years cannot participate in this year’s selection process.
The stages of the selection process are:
- First Phase: eliminatory and classificatory, requires the electronic submission of supporting documents.
- Second Phase: classificatory, based on the analysis of academic performance and attendance.
- Third Phase: classificatory and eliminatory, consists of an oral interview.
How to Apply for Sedu’s Exchange Program?
Those interested in participating in the free exchange program offered by the Secretary of Education must register between 10 AM on May 20 and 11:59 PM on May 27, 2024. Applications can be made through the ES Selection website.
