The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) is currently accepting applications to fill 350 spots in two undergraduate courses in Distance Learning (EAD).
The opportunities are divided between the Geography Teaching Degree, which offers 200 spots, and the Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperativism, with 150 spots available.
Applications started on August 19 and will run until September 16, 2024, providing an excellent opportunity for those wishing to study at a renowned higher education institution without leaving home.
Details on Available Spots and Locations
Interested candidates for the Geography Teaching Degree can apply for spots distributed across several locations, including Encantado, Picada Café, Santana do Livramento, Sapucaia do Sul, and Seberi.
For those wishing to pursue the Bachelor’s Degree in Cooperativism, spots are available in the locations of Imbé, Picada Café, and Porto Alegre. To participate in the selection process, candidates must pay an application fee of R$ 100 by September 17.
The notices for these courses also reserve 50% of the spots for candidates selected under the Affirmative Action Program.
This program is aimed at black individuals, quilombolas, indigenous people, people with disabilities, and women, increasing access to higher education for historically marginalized groups.
The written exam is scheduled for October 13, 2024, marking the main selection stage for both courses.
The Suspension of the Selection Process and the Start of Classes
Originally, the selection process was scheduled to take place at the beginning of 2024 but was suspended due to the May flooding that affected several regions in Rio Grande do Sul.
With the reopening of applications, those approved in this selection process will begin their classes in the first semester of 2025, thus adhering to UFRGS’s academic calendar.
