The WEG Project Includes the Construction of a New Factory and Is Expected to Generate About 140 Jobs
WEG is a Brazilian company with a global presence in the areas of electrical engineering, energy technology, and automation. According to Exame Invest, the company will invest R$ 100 million by 2024 in Brazil to expand the production capacity of lithium battery packs. The packs are systems composed of battery modules, lithium-ion cells, and cooling tubes.
The company does not only wish to increase the dimensions of the current manufacturing building but also plans to construct a new factory to meet the demand for electric mobility and energy storage systems, which have been growing exponentially nowadays. With this project, over 140 jobs will be generated.

The investment and expansion schedule of WEG has been divided into two phases. In the first phase, there will be an immediate expansion of the current manufacturing building. Meanwhile, the second phase provides for the completion of the new battery pack factory by the first half of 2024.
Investments Will Increase the Factory Area for Battery Pack Production to 6,000 m²
With the new investments to be made by WEG by 2024, the built area available for the manufacturing of battery packs will reach approximately 6,000 m². The project is expected to generate around 140 new jobs for the Jaraguá do Sul region, as it will have tools and services for automation, digitalization, and Industry 4.0 provided by the company itself.
The installation of the new factory will follow WEG’s modular construction model, “which allows for gradual and continuous increases in production capacity to meet the company’s expansion needs over the coming years,” according to the company.
