Ford Takes Loss Of Almost R$ 5.5 Million Due To F-150 Raptor Theft In Woodhaven, United States
Vehicle theft is a common problem in urban centers, but the recent case of 10 Ford F-150 Raptors stolen directly from the assembly line shocked many. The trucks were in the manufacturer’s lot in Woodhaven, United States, when thieves, who already had facilitated access, acted. Fortunately, some of the vehicles and some of those responsible have already been found.
According to the portal Carscoops, the newly produced vehicles were in the lot with the keys inside and doors unlocked. This ease was a feast for the criminals.
Thieves Fled Driving Their Own Ford F-150 Raptor
The police are still investigating how the thieves broke into the site, but they have already discovered that they fled driving their own stolen Ford F-150 Raptors. According to the operation chief, Scott Freczek, the criminals crossed a fence, took a parallel road, and soon accessed an important highway.

The thieves’ plan started to go wrong when the vehicles ran out of gas due to the powerful engine and high fuel consumption. One of the trucks was found abandoned on the streets of the U.S., and four other Ford F-150 Raptors were recovered at a gas station in Harper Woods, where the thieves were arrested. Freczek highlighted Ford’s security failure in allowing the keys to be left inside the vehicles.
This is not the first time Ford has faced this type of problem. In 2021 and 2022, the Flat Rock Assembly plant was also broken into, resulting in the theft of eight Mustang Shelby GT500. In the current case, five trucks have yet to be located, as well as the other individuals responsible for the theft. The total loss is estimated at around US$ 1 million, equivalent to approximately R$ 5.5 million.
Ford Faces Recurrent Security Issues
This situation highlights a recurring problem for Ford. The ease with which the criminals managed to carry out the theft indicates a significant failure in security measures. For the manufacturer, in addition to the financial loss, there is also the issue of public trust in its ability to protect its assets. The incident raises the urgent need for reviews of internal security practices to prevent similar cases in the future.
The Future Of Security In The Automotive Industry
With technology advancing, automakers, including Ford, are expected to invest more in security to prevent such incidents. The automotive industry as a whole needs to adapt to face these new threats, ensuring its vehicles and facilities are properly protected.
