According to Segundo a Segundo, the opportunity to pursue a sandwich doctorate abroad is a significant milestone in the academic journey of many Brazilian students. With the opening of applications for the Institutional Programme for Sandwich Doctorate Abroad (PDSE) by CAPES in 2024, up to 2,976 scholarships are available, offering a gateway to an enriching and transformative experience.
Requirements and Selection Process: How to Prepare to Compete for a Scholarship
For those interested in participating, the process starts with an internal selection at the higher education institution where the student is enrolled in the doctorate. It is essential to observe the deadline, which goes until April 30, to ensure participation. Subsequently, students approved for the scholarship at this stage will proceed to register in the CAPES Application System (Sicapes), which occurs from May 2 to May 16.
During the period abroad, selected students will receive financial support that includes a monthly scholarship, assistance for travel, installation, and health insurance, as well as possible location-based supplements. It is a unique opportunity for immersion in an international academic environment, contributing to the professional and personal development of the scholarship holders.
