Petrobras’ refinery – Replan reached 123,000 m³ (123 million liters) in May. This number is 36% higher than the previous record in January of this year, which was 90,000 m³.
According to Petrobras’ report, since the beginning of 2020, all fuel for ships sold in Brazil and in more than 170 countries must have a sulfur content of 0.5%, due to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (Marpol). Anticipating this process, the state-owned company has been marketing the product since last year.
In the first five months of this year, Replan accounted for 12% of all Bunker produced by Petrobras. Considering only the month of May, this rate was 22%.
“All the Bunker produced by the Replan refinery in Paulínia is transported by pipelines to the Barueri Terminal, where it is stored to be sent, also by pipelines, to the Port of Santos”, Petrobras states.
About Petrobras Replan Refinery
Replan is Petrobras’ largest refinery in oil processing capacity: 69,000 m³ per day, equivalent to 434,000 barrels. Its production accounts for approximately 20% of all oil refining in Brazil, processing almost all of the national oil, a large part coming from the Santos Basin (pre-salt).
The Paulínia refinery started its operational activity on February 2, 1972, three months before the inauguration. About 20,000 cubic meters of oil per day (126,000 barrels) were processed at that time.
