Renault ‘Mocks’ Tesla and the Semi. While Pepsi is Building a Charging Station, Coca-Cola is Operating Its New Electric Trucks in Belgium.
Renault Trucks and Coca-Cola, the global leader in soft drink sales, are mocking Tesla and PepsiCo with the delivery of 30 electric trucks from Renault Trucks to Coca-Cola in Belgium! Tesla is expected to deliver the first Semi units to PepsiCo by the end of 2022.
Elon Musk is even tweeting about how capable the electric truck will be after he allegedly drove 500 miles with a total weight of 336,741 kg.
Coca-Cola is Studying How to Be Carbon Neutral by 2030
Coca-Cola’s trucks have a range of 200 km on a single charge. This is a significant achievement along the average 150 km route for diesel delivery trucks.

The Coca-Cola worked closely with Renault Trucks to select the right trucks and create the best charging conditions for this local use. When they finish delivering Coca-Cola bottles to local businesses, the Renault Trucks units will return to their own charging stations to recharge overnight, using green energy during recharges.
The 30 electric trucks represent one-fifth of CCEP’s current fleet. Coca-Cola’s distributor is working hard to reduce its carbon footprint, and one of the measures has been to replace all bottles with units using 100% recycled plastic.
Additionally, when it comes to transporting its goods, the company is studying how to be carbon neutral by 2030, with longer distances and heavier loads.
“We will continue to take steps to decarbonize our fleet by 2030, while we continue to study market developments to determine the future of our fleets, considering parameters such as covering longer distances, vehicle range, and heavier loads,” explains An Vermeulen, Vice President of Sales at Coca-Cola.
This Is Not the First Time Renault Trucks Provoked American EV Manufacturer Elon Musk
This is not the first time Renault Trucks has provoked American EV manufacturer Elon Musk. On October 18, Renault Trucks aired a mockery about how it already had more than 300 electric trucks operating when Tesla hadn’t delivered a single unit of its Semi yet.
Renault is expanding public charging in Europe. With the help of local partners, the company aims to deliver a true competitor to the Tesla Semi in 2023. The deal with Coca-Cola will try to persuade more customers. However, they will have a tough task, as the Tesla Semi will have a much greater range.
