FPSO BW Pioneer Has Contract Renewed and Will Continue Operating for the Joint Venture Formed by Murphy and Petrobras
BW Offshore and MP GOM (joint venture (JV) between Murphy Oil and Petrobras) have renewed the contract for the FPSO BW Pioneer to operate in the deepwater fields Cascade and Chinook in the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract is set to last until March 2025, with the possibility of being extended for another five years. The vessel, which has the capacity of 80,000 bopd, has been chartered by Murphy since 2012.

MP GOM was formed in 2018, with an 80% stake from Murphy and a 20% stake from Petrobras America. According to Brazil Energia, the JV’s asset list includes the fields of St. Malo, Lucius, Hadrian North, Cottonwood, Hadrian South, Dalmatian, Front Runner, Clipper, Habanero, Kodiak, Medusa, Thunder Hawk, South Marsh Island 280, Garden Banks 200/201, and Tahoe.

The company is also involved in the development of proven offshore hydrocarbon reservoirs and is represented in all major oil and gas regions of the world, with a fleet of 15 owned FPSOs. The company has over 30 years of production history, having executed 40 FPSO and FSO projects.
