This Thursday, (03/27), Sesc is open for registrations for a free technical theater course in Rio de Janeiro. The Sesc School of Dramatic Arts, located at the Sesc Educational Center in Jacarepaguá, offers 50 positions for professional training in the theater field.

The free technical course lasts four academic semesters and prepares students to work in the cultural sector with recognized qualifications.

The classes for the free theater technical course will take place in person during the evening, from 6:40 PM to 10 PM, ensuring flexibility for those who already have daytime commitments.

Structure and Benefits of the Free Technical Course in Theater

The Sesc School of Dramatic Arts features a theater equipped with 600 seats, modern classrooms, and specialized laboratories for theatrical training.

The free technical course offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers topics such as Latin American dramaturgy, collaborative staging, and scenic fundamentals.

The free theater technical course also provides students with the opportunity to obtain a professional registration issued by the Regional Labor Delegation (DRT), expanding opportunities in the artistic market.

The program is the result of a partnership between Sesc and Senac, which aim to promote the creative economy and strengthen the cultural sector in Rio de Janeiro.

Selection Process for the Free Technical Theater Course

To compete for one of the spots in the free technical course, it is necessary to meet some criteria: candidates must be over 18 years old and have completed high school.

Registrations are open until April 2, 2025, and must be made through the official website of the Sesc Educational Center.

The selection process for the free technical theater course at Sesc will consist of three stages:

Validation of Registration — a non-eliminatory stage, where the required documents will be checked.

Evaluation of the Memo — analysis of the document in which the candidate recounts their journey and affinity with the proposal of the Sesc School of Dramatic Arts.

Specific Skills Test and Interview — practical and behavioral evaluation of the candidates.

Those approved in the free technical theater course will be divided into two classes of 25 students each. The first begins in the second semester of 2025, and the second at the beginning of 2026.

The Sesc School of Dramatic Arts was created in 2021 to promote free training in theater and strengthen cultural production in Rio de Janeiro.

To register for the free technical theater course, candidates must present the following documents:

Identification document;
Proof of residence;
Proof of completion of high school;
Memo (personal account of artistic journey).

The documents must be submitted in the registration form in PNG, JPG, JPEG, or PDF format, with a maximum size of 1 MB.
