Vaca Muerta Is An Innovative Project From Argentina In The Oil And Gas Sector, Conducted In Unconventional Exploration Environments
Argentina has implemented unconventional oil and gas exploration for a few years now, in the Vaca Muerta region. In this sense, the project adopts exclusive techniques for the exploration of oil wells located amidst shanties, fruit crops, and other geological conditions. This technique, still unprecedented in Brazil, was learned and can generate onshore and offshore jobs.
The country of “los hermanos” has the second-largest shale gas reserve in the world and the fourth-largest in unconventional oil. In other words, the country has developed exclusive techniques to maintain life around these oil wells while still achieving high productivity. Brazil attended a meeting about Vaca Muerta in Argentina and may implement exploration techniques here. Learn more.

Oil And Gas Companies And ABPIP Were Present At The Event In Buenos Aires
The Brazilian Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producers (ABPIP) and associated companies participated in the event about Vaca Muerta in Buenos Aires. The seminar was titled: “Lessons Learned From Vaca Muerta,” and also featured the esteemed participation of major oil and gas entities and companies such as SLB, Tecpetrol, and Halliburton.

A Canadian study detects record methane emissions and reveals that abandoned oil wells pollute up to 1,000 times more than expected.
The event was highly enriching for the Brazilian team and brought many lessons learned from the neighboring country about new exploration methods for oil and gas in unconventional environments. However, this learning will be applied in Brazil in the coming years and will generate many onshore and offshore jobs. Moreover, it will bring economic development.
“This was an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange experiences with representatives from the Argentine industry regarding the exploration technique still unprecedented in Brazil”
Anabal Santos Júnior, Executive Secretary of ABPIP (2022)
The Brazilian Mission To Expand The Exploration Of Unconventional Reservoirs Led The Oil And Gas Sector To The Event
Brazil has a mission called “Unconventional Reservoirs – Transparent Well.” Its goal is to expand national techniques to explore new oil fields that fall outside the norm and can generate onshore and offshore jobs.
However, this mission is conducted in partnership with the National Oil Industry Organization (ONIP) and is coordinated by ABPIP. This mission took place from November 1 to 4 and was very beneficial. After all, the technical team from the sector exchanged experiences with notable names in the industry who specialize in unconventional exploration.
Additionally, Brazil also participated in the “Argentina Shale Production 2022” Congress as part of the stipulated mission. In this sense, the Brazilian technical team had access to success cases and learned modern techniques for implementation in our country and exploration of unconventional wells. Furthermore, the technical team visited and observed operations in the Province of Neuquén.
Brazil Is One Of The World Leaders In Shale Gas Production, It Just Needs The Technique To Explore The Gas And Generate New Onshore And Offshore Jobs
Brazil is a major player in global oil and gas production. However, this is not solely due to the pre-salt. After all, market experts point out that our country ranks 10th in the world in terms of potential volume of Shale Gas. This type of gas is obtained through exploration using unconventional methods and requires technique and investment in technology.
However, the technical team is already considering the Transparent Well Project for the coming years.
“The execution of the Transparent Well Project will allow advancements in understanding the potential of unconventional petroleum resources in Brazil, bringing new technologies, expanding scientific knowledge, and, with the participation of all society, generating income, new jobs, and socioeconomic development, especially in the interior of the country”.
Anabal Santos Júnior, Executive Secretary of ABPIP (2022).
