With construction already underway, Shopee is preparing a 100,000 m² distribution center in Londrina, expected to create 2,000 direct jobs and serve regions of Paraná, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul, reinforcing the city’s position on the Brazilian logistics map and in e-commerce.
Shopee has started construction of a new distribution center in Londrina, in the north of Paraná, in a project announced by Mayor Tiago Amaral on May 18, 2026. The development will have an approximate area of 100,000 m² and is expected to generate around 2,000 direct jobs.
According to a report by ND Mais, the structure will be installed on land near the access to highway PR-445, in the northern region of the city. The logistics center was presented as a bet to serve municipalities in Paraná, western São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul, expanding Londrina’s role in e-commerce deliveries.
Shopee’s Megacenter will have 100,000 m² and is expected to change Londrina’s logistical significance

The new development by Shopee in Londrina will have an approximate area of 100,000 m², with about 33,000 m² of covered constructed area, according to information released by the municipal administration. The construction has already started and is under the responsibility of a construction company from Goiânia.

Accelerated growth in international demand for compact properties in tourist neighborhoods of Rio boosts the real estate market, expands short-term rentals, and attracts investors from Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East to the city.
The projected completion time is up to 10 months. This timeline places the project in a window considered accelerated for a logistics structure of this size, especially as it involves a center planned to receive, organize, and redistribute goods to different regions.
City was chosen for strategic position between Paraná, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul
Londrina appears in the project as a connection point between important markets. Shopee’s operation is expected to serve the north of Paraná, western São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul, three areas with significant demand for deliveries and product circulation.
This choice also reinforces the logistical vocation of the so-called “Brazilian London.” The city is in a favorable position for operations that need to shorten distances and organize regional routes, especially in a sector where delivery time and distribution efficiency are increasingly important.
Project promises to generate 2,000 direct jobs in northern Paraná

One of the most impactful points of the announcement is the forecast of creating around 2,000 direct jobs. The estimate was presented by the Londrina City Hall during the project’s announcement and places the distribution center among the ventures with the greatest immediate hiring potential in the city.
The job creation tends to involve different stages of the operation, from activities related to logistics to administrative and support functions. Still, the disclosed number refers to anticipated direct jobs, not yet finalized hires, as the structure is still under construction.
BTS model indicates that the center will be custom-built
Shopee’s logistics center will be developed in the BTS model, an acronym for Built to Suit. In this format, the property is custom-built to meet the operational needs of the company that will occupy the structure.
In practice, this means that the project does not start as a generic warehouse. It is planned to meet specific operational requirements, which may include vehicle flow, storage areas, goods separation, and processing capacity.
City Hall sees the venture as a showcase to attract new companies
During the announcement, Mayor Tiago Amaral associated Shopee’s arrival with Londrina’s economic development strategy. The municipal management’s assessment is that a center of this size can strengthen the city’s image as a logistical and industrial hub.
The Municipal Secretary of Works and Paving, Otávio Gomes, also highlighted the importance of the BTS model for the Southern region. According to the municipal administration, the venture is considered the largest in this format in the region, which may make other companies pay more attention to Londrina.
Location near PR-445 may facilitate delivery flow
The chosen area is close to the access to highway PR-445, a relevant piece of information to understand the logic of the project. For a distribution center, being near a strategic route can reduce bottlenecks for vehicle entry and exit.
This proximity helps explain why the enterprise was positioned in the northern region of the city. In logistics operations, the address is not just a detail: it can determine costs, deadlines, and delivery efficiency.
E-commerce expands competition for regional distribution centers
Shopee’s expansion in Londrina follows a larger trend in e-commerce: bringing inventories closer to consumers and reducing the time between purchase and delivery. Regional distribution centers allow for better route organization and decrease dependency on structures concentrated in a few large hubs.
In this scenario, medium-sized cities with good road locations gain importance. Londrina enters this competition not only for the size of the local market but for the possibility of serving as a base for nearby regions.
Can a megacenter transform Londrina into a logistics reference?
The arrival of Shopee in northern Paraná is expected to boost jobs, construction, suppliers, and expectations about Londrina’s economic future. The project still depends on the completion of construction and the implementation of operations, but it already repositions the city within the digital retail logistics map.
Now the question remains: can a megacenter of this size transform Londrina into a national logistics hub, or will the impact be more concentrated in the region? Do you think Shopee’s arrival can attract other large companies to the city? Share your opinion.
