Eight Companies Are Competing for the Bid for the Duplication of the PR-412 Highway, Linking Guaratuba to the Border with Santa Catarina.
The duplication of the PR-412 highway, between Guaratuba (PR) and the border with Santa Catarina, took an important step on this Wednesday (10). The bidding process attracted eight companies, which submitted proposals to develop the projects and execute the work, estimated at R$ 199.2 million.
The objective is to ensure smoother traffic flow and safety on the coast, an area that suffers from intense congestion during the summer.
After the bidding phase, the Department of Highways of Paraná (DER-PR) will analyze the documentation of the participants, including the detailed pricing sheet. Only after this stage will it be possible to sign the contract.

When the work order is issued, the chosen company will have 12 months to finalize the projects and 18 months to complete the duplication.
Bid Has a Successful Second Attempt
The current process was only possible because the first competition, opened in January, did not advance.
At that time, the proposals were rejected or did not meet the requirements of the notice.
With the publication of a new call, DER-PR was able to resume the bidding and attract more competitors this time.
Agreement Guarantees Benefits for Santa Catarina As Well
The impact of the work will not be restricted to Paraná.
In August, governors Ratinho Júnior (PR) and Jorginho Mello (SC) made a commitment for the work to reach Garuva and Itapoá, in Santa Catarina.
The proposal includes the duplication of 19 km of the SC-417, in addition to the construction of three overpasses.
The investment will be funded by the government of Paraná as compensation for a historical debt of royalties from Petrobras, which has lasted nearly 35 years.
How the PR-412 Will Look After Duplication
The section that will be duplicated has 12.81 km in length and begins at the border with Santa Catarina, extending to the access to Balneário Coroados.
The new structure will have lanes of 3.6 meters each, shoulders of 2.5 meters, and a central median of 2.2 meters, ensuring more space and safety for drivers.
Another highlight is the construction of a new State Highway Police station at the junction with PR-808.
From this point, a bike lane will be implemented, extending to the urban area of Guaratuba, also benefiting those who use bicycles as a means of transportation.
Complementary Works and Improvements in Mobility
In addition to the duplication itself, interventions are planned to modernize the entire highway. Among them are:
- replacement of the bridge over the Rio da Praia with a triple concrete culvert;
- construction of a viaduct in the urban area;
- creation of three at-grade turnarounds (km 3.4; km 5.72; km 10.88);
- implementation of a new drainage system;
- reinforcement of signage and installation of road safety devices.
These measures are expected to reduce accidents, facilitate traffic, and increase the capacity for regional production flow, in addition to enhancing tourism in the coastal region.
Importance of the Duplication of the Highway
The PR-412 is one of the main accesses to the coast of Paraná and experiences heavy traffic, especially during the summer season.
The work, estimated at nearly R$ 200 million, is seen as strategic for ensuring mobility, generating jobs, and strengthening integration with Santa Catarina.
The expectation is that, with the completion of the duplication, residents, tourists, and transporters will be able to move around with more safety and efficiency in the region.
