Suzano Pulp Announced A Major Advancement In The Cerrado Project In August. The Manufacturing Unit Has Already Created Thousands Of Jobs Currently And Promises To Generate Even More When Completed.
The construction works of the Cerrado Project, Suzano’s new pulp factory, a global reference in the production of bioproducts developed from eucalyptus cultivation, in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS), are on schedule with significant progress recorded up to last month, generating thousands of jobs for professionals in the region.
Updates On The Works Of The Cerrado Project
In the video and images released by Suzano Pulp, it is possible to observe, for example, the advancement of the assembly of the DDW washing drums in the bleaching sector of the Fiber Line and the intermediate back wall of the furnace in the Recovery Boiler.
In addition, thermal insulation of the furnace walls of the Power Boiler has been initiated, and the tightness test of the emergency lagoon for the partial start of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) has also been carried out.

In May of this year, Suzano Pulp increased its investment estimate in the Cerrado Project by 15%, taking into account contract adjustments for inflation and the company’s choice to carry out or handle some products and services in-house, rather than purchasing from other companies. Now, the giant plans to invest R$ 22.2 billion in the construction of the new pulp factory, creating thousands of new jobs.

Suzano Pulp’s new factory, being installed in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS), previously received investments of R$ 19.3 billion, with increased disbursements planned for 2024. The company’s review of investments also includes a gain of R$ 300 million due to exchange rate fluctuations, particularly the euro.
These options to make or purchase accounted for R$ 1.3 billion of the budget increase for the Cerrado Project, according to Marcelo Bacci, director of Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations at Suzano.

Announced in May 2021 and confirmed by Suzano’s Board of Directors at the beginning of November of the same year, the Cerrado Project Currently Generates About 10 Thousand Direct Jobs At The Peak Of The Construction.
Expected to become operational in June 2024, the new factory, which will be Suzano’s most competitive unit, will produce 2.55 million tons of eucalyptus pulp per year, generating jobs for 3,000 people, including in-house and third-party employees, in forestry and industrial areas, impacting the entire economic chain of the region.
