Suzano Celulose announced a major advance in the Cerrado Project in August. The manufacturing unit has already generated thousands of jobs currently and promises to generate even more when it is completed.

As construction work on the Cerrado Project, Suzano's new cellulose factory, a global reference company in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from eucalyptus cultivation, in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS), follow the schedule with important advances recorded until the last month, generating thousands of jobs for professionals in the region.

In the video and images released by Suzano Celulose it is possible to observe, for example, the progress of the assembly of the DDW washing drums in the bleaching sector of the Fiber Line and the intermediate rear wall of the furnace in the Recovery Boiler.

In addition, the thermal insulation of the walls of the Power Boiler furnace was started and the emergency lagoon's tightness test was also carried out for the partial start-up of the effluent treatment plant (ETE).

The video released by Suzano Celulose also presents updates on the works in the logistics area of ​​the new unit, such as the tunnel for the passage of hexatrains, the interchange for access to the factory, the expansion of the DPW and T32 port terminals in Santos (SP) and the beginning of works on the Intermodal Terminal in Inocência (MS).

The month of August was also marked by the graduation of the first class of the Forest Machinery Mechanics Training course for eucalyptus harvesting and the presentation of the Mobile Vaca project in the Mutum and Avaré Settlements, among other social actions.

In May this year, Suzano Celulose increased its investment estimate in the Cerrado Project by 15%, taking into account the correction of contracts due to inflation and the company's option to make or have some products and services in-house, instead of purchasing from other companies. Now, the giant plans to invest R$22,2 billion in the construction of the new cellulose factory, generating thousands of new jobs.

The new Suzano cellulose factory, which is being installed in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS), previously received investments of R$ 19,3 billion, with an increase in disbursements planned for 2024. The company's review of investments also counts on a gain in R$300 million related to exchange rate variation, with emphasis on the euro.

These make-or-buy options accounted for R$1,3 billion of the increase in the Cerrado Project budget, according to Marcelo Bacci, director of Finance, Legal and Investor Relations at Suzano.

Announced in May 2021 and confirmed by Suzano's Board of Directors at the beginning of November of the same year, the Cerrado Project currently generates around 10 thousand direct jobs at the peak of the work.

Expected to come into operation in June 2024, the new factory, which will be Suzano's most competitive unit, will produce 2,55 million tons of eucalyptus pulp per year, generating jobs for 3 thousand people, including its own employees and third parties, in the forestry and industrial areas, moving the entire economic chain in the region .
