Tesla CEO Elon Musk Claims That He Will Launch His Charging Network for Other Electric Cars From Competing Brands This Year, Going Against the Idea of Creating Alliances or Startups to Set Up Charging Networks
The major automaker of Elon Musk, Tesla, is planning to open its charging network for electric cars from other brands later this year. As always, the company’s CEO announced this information on his Twitter. Currently, the company offers more than 2,500 charging stations for electric vehicles, known as Superchargers, with around 25,000 compressors.

The company’s Supercharger network is divided among several countries in North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. The company’s strategy went against the solutions taken by other electric car manufacturers, who chose to form alliances or invest in energy startups to set up their charging networks.
Last Tuesday (20), via Twitter, the CEO stated that his company’s charging network would be open to electric cars from other brands later this year. The billionaire did not provide details on which market would be the first to receive the chargers but assured that the network would be expanded worldwide.

Tesla Tries to Please Governments
The possibility of electric cars from other competing brands using Tesla’s charging network is already a topic discussed in markets where the company operates. For example, in Germany, where the Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Andreas Scheuer, stated in June that he was trying to persuade the company to open its charging network to its competitors.
In the US, no explicit request has been made for Tesla to open its network to other electric cars. However, at the end of last month, President Joe Biden announced a calculated plan in the infrastructure sector, which includes an investment of US$ 7.5 billion in electric vehicle infrastructure, including charging points.
The arrival of better charging infrastructure for electric cars in the United States could give Americans more confidence to purchase EVs, which could give General Motors and Ford the necessary boost in the race against Tesla for leadership in this automotive market sector.
