Working Group of the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Aims for Better Organization of the Sector and Optimization of Services Offered
In response to market needs for the standardization of actions and modernization of the modular structures sector, the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment (Abimaq) implemented in 2023 the country’s first Sectoral Chamber of Modular Structures (CSEM). Since the beginning of the year, the working group has included the main companies in the segment, including Tópico, the market leader. The CSEM is the main chamber of companies (manufacturers, suppliers, and users) that works to develop the application of modular structures, prioritizing economy, sustainability, and safety.
Tópico has over 2.5 million m² installed, serving different types of businesses in strategic economic sectors, from agribusiness to industries. It is currently the largest company in the country in the manufacturing and rental of flexible canvas and steel warehouses intended for storage and covering.
“Participating in a group that seeks improvements for the entire sector is a privilege that, unfortunately, few segments have. The constant pursuit of safety, sustainability, and cost savings for each business demonstrates the solidity of the segment and that it is possible for competing companies to work together for the strengthening of the market as a whole,” comments the Commercial and Marketing Director of Tópico and Vice President of the Sectoral Chamber, Sérgio Gallucci.

With a storage demand exceeding 11 million m² between 2014 and 2019, along with the impacts of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, which led various segments of the economy to need to store raw materials or products, the Flexible Structures sector began to operate with an increasingly higher level of legal and technical requirements. The CSEM was then created to assist manufacturers, integrators, and builders of modular structures across all economic sectors in Brazil, from agribusiness to manufacturing, logistics to retail, in meeting the new needs of the segment.
