Toyota’s Compact SUV Will Be Produced in the State of São Paulo
The Toyota Yaris Cross 2025 arrives in the Brazilian market as the brand’s newest compact SUV. Manufactured at the Sorocaba (SP) facility, the compact SUV was developed to meet the growing demand for SUVs focused on energy efficiency and hybrid technology. Although official information about the vehicle is still limited, details have already been disclosed by dealerships.
The SUV will be built on the DNGA platform, used in other Toyota vehicles, with specific changes for the national market. The Toyota Yaris Cross is expected to replace the Yaris line and directly compete with other compact SUVs like the VW T-Cross, Hyundai Creta, Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Tracker, and Nissan Kicks.
The car will be equipped with a hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter flex engine with an electric motor. This system aims to enhance fuel consumption, allowing the vehicle to achieve a range of up to 30 km per liter, depending on driving conditions.
Additionally, the compact SUV will feature driver assistance technologies. Standard items include autonomous emergency braking system, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and a multimedia center with a 10.1-inch screen and wireless connectivity.
Engine and Dimensions of the Toyota Yaris Cross
In terms of engine, it features a 1.5 naturally aspirated flex engine with 91 hp and 12.3 kgfm of torque that will work alongside an electric motor with 80 hp and 14.4 kgfm of torque.
The expectation is that the model will reach 113 hp combined. With a size of 4.31 m in length, 1.62 m in height, 1.77 m in width, and a 2.62 m wheelbase, it is possible that Toyota’s new model will achieve better fuel economy numbers than the Corolla Cross, not to mention that it should weigh less.
The electric motor is self-recharging, meeting the new Proconve L8 emissions standards. This configuration seeks to offer greater energy efficiency and lower environmental impact. The interior of the model has been designed to provide a functional and technological experience.

The main features include cyclist and pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, and emergency braking assistance. These functionalities aim to provide greater protection during travel and align with safety expectations of consumers in the compact SUV sector.
The vehicle will be sold in three versions, with estimated prices ranging from R$ 130 thousand to R$ 165 thousand. Despite the delay in the initial schedule, the launch is expected for June this year. The brand’s dealerships are already conducting pre-registrations for those interested in purchasing the vehicle.
