Japanese SUV Takes National Lead in August
In August 2025, the Brazilian automotive market showed decisive movements that reinforce the competitiveness among the main car models.
For the first time, the Toyota Corolla Cross achieved the lead among SUVs, surpassing the Volkswagen T-Cross by just 35 units sold.
This result confirmed the rise of the Japanese model in the segment, which gained ground amid the strong competition for the top sales in the country.
Polo Maintains Hegemony at the Overall Top
With a total of 12,908 units registered, the Volkswagen Polo secured its fifth consecutive victory in the overall ranking.
Thus, the hatch continues to rise, maintaining consistency and confirming the preference of Brazilian consumers throughout 2025.
However, even with the momentary lead, the year-to-date total still places the Fiat Strada as the best-selling model.
The pickup was chosen by 11,833 consumers in August and registered a drop of 8.2% compared to July.
Still, it maintains an advantage of 4,400 units over the Polo in the year-to-date total, totaling 87,424 against 83,061.
Fiat Argo Maintains National Third Position
Still within the competitive scenario, the Fiat Argo repeated its third position, with 10,097 units registered in August.
Although without major surprises, the Italian hatchback maintained consistency in its performance.
This balance reinforces its relevance in the monthly podium race.
Consistency also directly contributes to keeping the rivalry alive.
The Brazilian market remains highly sensitive to price variations, supply, and availability.

Corolla Cross Takes Center Stage Among SUVs
The standout in August was the Toyota Corolla Cross, which reached 7,737 units sold and surpassed the Volkswagen T-Cross, which registered 7,702 units.
The difference of just 35 cars was enough to secure the first national lead for the Japanese SUV.
Thus, the Toyota model established itself as a competitive option in the crossover and mid-size SUV sector, a segment that is rapidly growing in Brazil.
Despite a discreet performance in the first half of the month, the turnaround occurred in the second half.
This movement confirmed the strength of the Japanese automaker in the national market.
HB20 Advances and Reaches Higher Positions
Another significant movement was led by the Hyundai HB20, which registered 7,590 units in August.
Although it appeared discreetly in the first fifteen days, the South Korean hatchback recorded strong growth in the final stretch of the month.
By a narrow margin, the model did not enter the national top 5.
The result demonstrates resilience and the ability to react in the competitive scenario.
This recovery reinforces the importance of the Hyundai model, which remains one of the main representatives in the compact segment.
