New Plant Will Produce the Corolla, an Unprecedented Hybrid Pickup, and Is Part of a R$ 11 Billion Investment Plan in the Country by 2030
Toyota confirmed that its new factory in Sorocaba (SP) will be inaugurated in May 2026, marking one of the largest industrial changes for the automaker in Brazil in recent years. Even before operations begin, the company has already opened 159 job vacancies for the unit, expanding opportunities in the region and attracting professionals from different fields.
The new plant will be responsible for the transfer of Corolla production, currently manufactured in Indaiatuba (SP), as well as housing the production of an unprecedented hybrid pickup, positioned below the Hilux and aimed at the national market.
New Factory, Increased Production, and Up-to-Date Technology
The Sorocaba unit will have 160,000 m² of built area and the capacity to produce up to 100,000 vehicles per year. The operation replaces the old factory in Indaiatuba, which is at the end of its useful life and will be closed in the second half of 2026, according to Toyota itself.

Costing less than a basic new car, Volkswagen’s turbo sedan has a 1.4 TSI engine with 150 hp, a range that can exceed 700 km, a 510-liter trunk, and premium finish that still attracts attention in the used car market.
Currently, the Sorocaba complex already produces Corolla Cross, Yaris Cross, and Yaris hatch (the latter only for export). With the new plant, the automaker increases industrial efficiency and concentrates production on more modern lines.

Jobs: 159 Vacancies Are Now Open
One of the most notable points is the immediate opening of 159 vacancies on Toyota’s official careers site, with opportunities for technical, administrative, and engineering levels, as well as positions related to production.
The company also reported that it aims to hire around 2,000 new employees by 2030, with a goal that 50% of the hires will be women, reinforcing diversity and inclusion policies.
Less Environmental Impact and Reduction of Emissions
The new factory introduces significant changes in the production process. Unlike the old unit in Indaiatuba, which still uses solvents in painting, the Sorocaba plant employs more modern processes, using water as a solvent and a new technology that eliminates the need for water in specific stages.
As a result, Toyota estimates a reduction of about 20% in CO₂ emissions, aligning operations with the automaker’s global decarbonization goals.
Billion-Dollar Investments and Support from BNDES
This change is part of a R$ 11 billion investment plan by Toyota in Brazil by 2030, which includes new products, factory updates, and hybrid technologies. Recently, BNDES released R$ 500 million to support the new Sorocaba plant and the reconstruction of the Porto Feliz (SP) factory, which was hit by a storm in 2025.
New Generation of Corolla and Unprecedented Hybrid Pickup
The transfer of production also signals the arrival of a new generation of the Corolla in Brazil, expected to be unveiled in 2026. Additionally, the new factory will be responsible for producing a full hybrid pickup, with 4×4 traction, which is set to compete directly with models such as the Fiat Toro.
The expectation is that the start of production of this pickup will occur between 2026 and 2027, using the TNGA architecture, the same as the Corolla and the Corolla Cross.
How to Apply for Positions at Toyota
Those interested in the 159 open positions should visit the official Toyota careers site, where it is possible to check requirements, work location, and stages of the selection process. The opportunities are for the Sorocaba (SP) region.
