The Free Courses at UFJF Will Have 8 Languages, They Are: English, French, Spanish, Libras, Italian, Latin, Classical Greek, and Portuguese
Through the Pro-Rectory of Extension, in partnership with the Faculty of Letters, the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) has opened registrations for free language courses. The extension program “Good Neighborhood Languages” aims to provide residents of the city with the opportunity to learn several languages for free.

UFJF is offering 280 slots for the free courses of the program, distributed among English, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Greek, Portuguese, and Libras. The free language courses at UFJF will last three academic semesters, with a total workload of 60 hours per semester. The in-person classes are set to start on April 25.

- English Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
- Spanish Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Wednesdays and Fridays;
- French Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays;
- Classical Greek: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
- Portuguese as a Host Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
- Latin Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays;
- Italian Language: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Tuesdays and Thursdays;
- Libras: from 7 PM to 9 PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays.
To Enroll in the Free Courses of English, Spanish, French, Latin, Greek, Italian, and Libras, Applicants Must Have:
- Minimum education of completed elementary school;
- Residency in neighborhoods close to UFJF;
- Background from public school or status as a full scholarship student in a private school;
- Age of 18 or older – for the English Language course;
- Age of 16 or older – for the other courses.
For the Portuguese as a Host Language course, candidates must prove at the time of enrollment that they have a minimum education of completed elementary school or equivalent, which can be evidenced by a handwritten declaration, if necessary.

MEC Offers Over 4,000 Slots in Free Online Courses with Certificate Issuance Through Its Own Platform; Registrations Will Last Until Slots Are Filled
The Ministry of Education (MEC) is currently accepting registrations for free online courses of 200 hours with completion certificates. So far, there are more than 4,750 available slots in the Training for Early Childhood Education Professionals program. Although it is aimed at education professionals, the free EAD courses accept anyone who is interested, has internet access, and is available to study.
