Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Offers Free Spots in Distance Learning Courses Through Cederj Consortium 2026, with Admission via In-Person Test or Enem Score, and Registration Open Until the End of October.

The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro offers 1,235 free spots in undergraduate distance learning courses in the Cederj Entrance Exam 2026/1.

Registration takes place exclusively online until October 30, 2025, with two ways to enter: in-person test on December 7, 2025 or use of the Enem score from the editions accepted for UFRJ.

The final result is expected to be announced on January 7, 2026.

What is the Cederj Entrance Exam and Who Participates

The selection process is organized by the Cecierj Foundation, in collaboration with the Academic Selection Coordination (Coseac/UFF).

The consortium brings together public institutions from the state of Rio de Janeiro, and, in addition to UFRJ, includes UERJ, UENF, UFF, UFRRJ, UNIRIO, and CEFET/RJ.

The announcement centralizes the calendar, classification rules, required documentation, and guidelines on reservation policies.

Offer from UFRJ in Distance Learning and Semipresential Model

UFRJ provides spots in four undergraduate courses in the semipresential modality.

Confirmed options include the Degree in Biological Sciences, with 356 spots, and the Degree in Physics, with 320 spots.

The other offerings are listed in the announcement.

The format combines online studies with in-person activities at regional hubs, where meetings, laboratory practices, assessments, and academic tutoring take place.

Who Can Apply and What Are the Requirements

Anyone who completed high school or its equivalent by the registration date can apply.

The announcement details the affirmative actions in place for federal institutions, including quotas for graduates from public schools, with considerations for income, race/color, and people with disabilities.

There are specific spots for public school teachers, mainly aimed at licentiate programs, focusing on teacher training and pedagogical improvement.

Guidelines on documentary verification and deadlines are included in the regulations.

Selection Modalities: In-Person Test or Enem

The selection occurs through two paths.

In the in-person test, scheduled for December 7, 2025, the candidate answers 45 objective questions and produces one essay.

The assessment covers high school content and competencies described in the announcement.

For those opting for the Enem score, UFRJ will accept performances from 2022, 2023, or 2024.

In this modality, the candidate is exempt from taking the test and will be classified according to the submitted scores, following the criteria established by the organization.

How the Score is Used and Criteria in Case of Tie

In the path with in-person exam, the final score results from the sum of the performance in objective questions and the essay.

In case of a tie, the criteria listed in the announcement are applied, which may consider the score in the essay and, if necessary, correct answers in specific areas.

For those entering through the Enem, classification observes weights and formulas defined by the selection process, respecting the specific rules of each participating institution in the consortium.

Regional Hubs, Academic Routine, and Student Support

The courses are distributed across in-person hubs in different municipalities of the state.

In these locations, students have access to infrastructure, library, laboratories, and tutors.

Online activities focus on content, teaching materials, forums, and performance tracking, while in-person stages include assessments, practices, and academic guidance.

This arrangement seeks to reconcile flexibility and quality, expanding access to public higher education for profiles that need to balance study, work, and family responsibilities.

Affirmative Actions and Spots for Public School Teachers

The quota policy follows the federal legislation applicable to federal universities, reserving spots for low-income students, blacks, browns, and indigenous, as well as people with disabilities.

There are also spots allocated to public school teachers in licentiate courses, with specific rules and documentation outlined in the announcement.

The goal is to encourage initial training and continuing education for teachers, contributing to the strengthening of basic education in the state.

Results, Calls, and Registration

The announcement of the final result is scheduled for January 7, 2026.

From there, approved candidates must follow the pre-registration and registration calendar and meet the deadlines for document submission.

If subsequent calls occur, the consortium will publish the convocations with the new dates.

It is recommended to frequently check the official announcements to not miss steps and ensure the confirmation of the spot.

Why the Expansion of Distance Learning Matters for Access

UFRJ’s offer within Cederj reinforces the democratization of access to free and quality higher education.

By distributing hubs and using virtual learning environments, the model reduces geographical barriers, opens space for strategic licentiates, and serves candidates who require flexible hours.

This combination has the potential to decentralize opportunities and expand university presence in cities outside major centers.

How to Register for the Cederj Entrance Exam 2026

Registration must be done online by October 30, 2025. The candidate needs to fill out the electronic form, select the course and preferred hub, and indicate the method of entry between in-person test and Enem score (using scores from 2022, 2023, or 2024 in the case of UFRJ).

It is important to review the information before finalizing the submission and keep the receipt generated by the system.

Information about possible fees, exemptions, and additional documents are outlined in the official selection process announcement.

With the possibilities of taking the test or utilizing the Enem score and the distribution of spots across different hubs, what strategy do you intend to adopt to compete for one of the 1,235 spots at UFRJ in the Cederj Entrance Exam 2026/1?
