Learn English or Spanish with the Free Courses of the Federal Institute-IFMS! Distance and In-Person Weekly Classes in MS. Sign Up!

The Federal Institute of Mato Grosso do Sul (IFMS) has opened registrations for 315 openings in free language courses, in the Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) modality. Scheduled to start in the first semester of 2025, the courses include options in Spanish and English, with a hybrid approach: distance learning combined with a weekly in-person class in the municipalities of Amambai, Antônio João, Costa Rica, Dourados, Nova Alvorada do Sul, Nova Andradina, and Ribas do Rio Pardo.

The available options are for the levels Spanish Basic I, English Basic I, and English Basic II. The goal is to provide participants with practical language learning, focused on real-life and workplace situations. Each course lasts five months and has a workload of 200 hours, divided between online activities and in-person meetings.

How Selection Works and Who Can Participate

The selection for the free courses will be conducted through a public draw. To enroll in English Basic II, an online placement test is required to ensure that candidates have the necessary prior knowledge.

The details must meet specific educational requirements, which vary by course. For the basic levels, completion of Elementary School I is required for Spanish, and candidates must be currently enrolled in or have completed High School for English.

Openings and Municipalities

The free language courses are distributed across seven municipalities. Below are some options and locations:

  • English Basic I and II: Amambai, Antônio João, Costa Rica, Nova Alvorada do Sul, and Nova Andradina.
  • Spanish Basic I and II: Ribas do Rio Pardo, Costa Rica, and Nova Alvorada do Sul.
In-person classes occur once a week, in the evening or afternoon, according to the schedule of each location.

Schedule

Registrations for the free courses can be made until January 3 at the Candidate’s Page of the IFMS Selection Center. Those without internet access can use the computers available at the Relationship Centers of the campuses or at teaching hubs.

The public draw is set for January 13, with the publication of the classification on January 16. The placement test for candidates to English Basic II will take place between January 27 and 29, with results announced on January 31.

Enrollment for the first call will take place between February 3 and 12, and classes will begin between March 17 and 21, 2025.

How Registration for Free Courses Works

To register for the free language courses, the candidate should access the Candidate’s Page, register or update their information, choose the desired course and hub, and confirm the registration. After that, a confirmation will be sent via email.

Don’t miss the chance to learn a new language and enhance your professional skills! The certificate, valid nationwide, is an excellent opportunity to highlight your resume and open new doors in the job market.
