The Unium unit will be installed next to the plot where the group’s Milk Processing Unit is located, near PR-151. The project in Ponta Grossa will be positioned in front of the Campos Gerais Malt House, also a Unium project, which will receive an initial investment of R$ 1.5 billion.
The project for the cheese unit in Ponta Grossa is longstanding and has been in planning for years. The negotiation regarding the malt house greatly contributed to its construction. According to José Loureiro Neto, municipal secretary of Industry, Trade, and Professional Qualification, when executives gathered to discuss the malt house project, they also mentioned the cheese factory. There were numerous negotiations, and the Unium unit aligned with the malt house, helping to finalize the investment quota in Ponta Grossa.

Over 1,600 Job Opportunities Will Be Created
The new venture will bring numerous benefits to the municipality, according to José, particularly in generating 66 direct jobs and over 1,570 indirect jobs.
“An investment of this magnitude generates many job opportunities in agribusiness and many more people will be employed, creating more taxes for the city hall, along with increased income,” Loureiro stated, emphasizing that this is yet another investment that could develop the North Industrial District, which, in addition to DAF and UBL, will also have the Nissin factory and the Malt House.
According to Loureiro, just as with the malt house, Unium is working on the documentation to ensure everything is approved as soon as possible so that the construction can begin still this year. The goal, according to the secretary, is to have the cheese unit, which will create multiple job opportunities, inaugurated in 2023.
