Federal University Announces Openings for Candidates Who Wish to Study Remotely at the Institution.

A reality that was unthinkable until recently: studying at a Federal University remotely. Now, this fact has become common, with the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) being one of the institutions proposing this idea.

In this context, the institution published a notice announcing the opening of registrations for the Selection Process for admission to the Distance Learning Undergraduate programs for 2024. According to the document, there are 907 available slots. These opportunities are distributed across six undergraduate courses. They are:

  • Computing;
  • Mathematics;
  • Chemistry;
  • Physics;
  • Physical Education;
  • And Pedagogy.

According to the institution, these courses will be developed in partnership with the Open University of Brazil (UAB), at the following face-to-face support locations: Andrelândia, Barão de Cocais, Barroso, Bicas, Boa Esperança, Cambuí, Carandaí, Carangola, Cataguases, Congonhas, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Durandé, Governador Valadares, Ilicínea, Ipanema, Itamonte, Lagoa Santa, Lavras, Sete Lagoas, and Varginha.

Admission Modality at the Federal University

As stated in the notice, those interested in becoming part of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora will be able to choose from two admission modalities.

In the first, intended for the general public, the average scores in Portuguese and Mathematics will be taken into account, with the presentation of the high school transcript, and it encompasses 70% of the spots.

On the other hand, in the second option, aimed at public school teachers currently working without a higher education degree, or who do not hold a degree in their area of work, proof of employment with their respective education networks must be provided, along with mandatory registration on the Freire Platform. Here, 30% of the opportunities are reserved.

According to the notice, if there is a number of applicants exceeding the number of available spots in the teacher modality, the criterion used will be the length of service and, subsequently, the student’s age.

Students Can Request Exemption from the Registration Fee

The registration fee exemption can be requested until this Wednesday (14), with the positive or negative result of the request being released on the 20th of this month on the General Coordination of Selection Processes (Copese) website.

If the request is denied, the applicant will be able to generate a Union Collection Guide (GRU) to make the payment of the fee.

Until When Are Registrations for Distance Learning Open

Interested parties should be aware that registration will be open until February 29 on the Copese website. It is important to remember that at the time of registration, it will be necessary to read the instructions, fill out the form with complete information, and submit it electronically.

After that, a Union Collection Guide corresponding to the registration fee will be issued, in the amount of R$150. The document can only be paid at Banco do Brasil.

When Will the Selection Process Results Be Released

According to the notice from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, the expectation is that the final result of the selection process will be released on March 25 on the Copese website. After that, those approved must submit documents for enrollment. Classes will start on April 15, 2024.
