People Seeking Opportunities in the Job Market, But Without Experience, Can Turn to the “My First Job” Program to Increase Their Chances of Getting an Opportunity.

A survey conducted last year by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) showed that about 17.1% of the youth population in the State of São Paulo are not studying and are unemployed.

With this in mind, the São Paulo government created the “My First Job” program, an initiative of the Department of Economic Development, focused on young people aged 16 to 24 with completed elementary education who wish to enter the job market.

Enrollment for the initiative is open. According to the state government, the “My First Job” program offers 6,155 slots in free courses at Qualifica São Paulo, aimed at assisting with entry into the job market.

She chose the course “Excel Applied to the Administrative Area.” After the classes, she reports seeing her chances of landing that dream first job increase. “With this qualification, I got an internship at the Public Defender’s Office of the State and I am sure it will be a great experience for my professional career,” she said.
