Transform Your Teaching Practice with the Special Education Course in the Perspective of Inclusive Education!

The State University of Santa Catarina (Udesc) is providing a valuable opportunity for education professionals with its free course for improvement in Special Education in the Perspective of Inclusive Education. Enrollment is open until next Friday, the 20th, and can be made directly through the form available on the university’s website.

Course Details and Enrollment

With a workload of 120 hours, the course is completely distance learning and starts in March 2025. Aimed at teachers, pedagogical teams, public education network managers, and basic education professionals, the course’s main objective is to “enrich teachers’ teaching practices for the development of inclusive education.” A total of 5,000 spots will be made available, allowing for broad participation, according to the site jornalfloripa.

Course Structure

The course is divided into four essential modules:

1st Human Rights, Diversity, and Inclusive Education

2nd Human Development, Teaching, and Learning in the Perspective of Inclusive Education

3rd Curriculum, Technologies, and Inclusive Pedagogical Practices

4th Inclusive Practices, Resources, and Pedagogical Materials in School

These modules are aligned with legal frameworks and current research on special education and inclusion.

Launch and Partnerships

The course was launched in a ceremony at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), attended by representatives from various partner institutions. From Udesc, the course coordinator, Professor Cléia Demétrio Pereira, highlighted the importance of the initiative. The recording of the event is available on YouTube.

The course is part of an agreement with the Ministry of Education, involving the Secretary of Continuing Education, Youth and Adult Literacy, Diversity and Inclusion (Secadi) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). The training programs are offered by public higher education institutions that are part of the Open University of Brazil (UAB), utilizing the competencies established in the UAB system.

More Opportunities

In addition to this course, Udesc also offers the training “Teaching and Management in Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations and Quilombola School Education,” demonstrating its commitment to diversity and inclusion in education.

Excellence Partnerships

The course has internal and external partnerships, including the Professional Master’s in Inclusive Education (Profei) and various laboratories and centers at Udesc, such as LabDH, Ledi, LabEduSex, MultiLabEHAD, Neab, and the Laboratory of Post-Colonial and Decolonial Studies (Aya). The partnership with the Santa Catarina Federation of Municipalities (Fecam) and the State Department of Education reinforces the support and reach of the project.
