In The Varginha Region in MG, The Ilha Grande Hydroelectric Power Plant, Which Was Deactivated in 1980, Is Being Revitalized and May Soon Generate Electric Energy Again.
The hydroelectric plant was one of the main energy generators for a total of 50 cities in the MG region and operated for over 60 years. According to the Cultural Foundation of Varginha/MG, the hydroelectric plant was founded in 1914 by then-President Wenceslau Braz and Governor Delfim Moreira.

Revitalization Work of The Ilha Grande Hydroelectric Power Plant in MG Is Expected to Be Completed in Up to 24 Months
According to The Cultural Foundation, the work began in October 2019 and is expected to be completed and delivered within 18 to 24 months. The company Compasso Energia S/A, which is one of the heads of the hydroelectric plant, is also the main responsible for the execution of the revitalization and requalification work of the plant.
