USP Opens Enrollment for Over 5,000 Free Courses for Individuals Over 60 Years Old. The Initiative, with Over 30 Years of History, Offers Classes in Various Areas of Knowledge, Along with Cultural and Physical Activities at the Campuses in the Capital and the Interior.

The University of São Paulo (USP) began enrollment on this Monday (21st) for the 60th edition of the USP 60+ program, aimed exclusively at individuals over 60 years old. The free initiative offers more than 5,000 spots in the second semester of 2025, with activities in the capital and at interior campuses.

Courses and Various Activities

The spots are distributed among regular undergraduate courses and complementary activities. There are over 350 options in areas such as entrepreneurship, marketing, artificial intelligence, social psychology, nutrition, and oceanography. Participants can also take courses with USP undergraduate students.

Among the complementary activities, physical and cultural practices are planned. There are classes in senior dance, yoga, pilates, lian gong, and capoeira. Workshops in theater, choir, games, and guided tours to the Museum of Zoology and the USP Science and Technology Park are also included.

Enrollment and Requirements

Enrollment is open to anyone over 60 years old, without the need for prior affiliation with the university. Each unit of USP defines its own deadline for closing enrollment. In the case of complementary activities, the enrollment period may vary throughout the semester.

Some courses have prerequisites, but most do not have any requirements. The complete list of available spots is available on the official USP 60+ program website.

Active Aging

The program coordinator, Dr. Egidio Lima Dórea, highlights the importance of continuous learning. According to him, the exchange of experiences between generations contributes to active and healthy aging.

Created in 1994 by Professor Ecléa Bosi, the program has been active for over 31 years and is an initiative of the USP’s Pro-Rectorate of Culture and University Extension.
