Technical Training in Electrotechnics Expands Professional Opportunities and Strengthens Energy Transition in the Interior of Bahia

An exciting celebration held last Wednesday night (05/06) marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of 26 young people from the municipality of Gentio do Ouro, in the interior of Bahia, in the Médio São Francisco region. Now, they are Electrotechnics technicians through SENAI. The course, lasting two years, was an initiative by ENGIE Brasil Energia and Vestas Brasil, in partnership with the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI).

The training opens new professional perspectives for young people in the region, giving them access to opportunities in a strategic sector of the economy, aligned with the generation of green jobs and the growth of renewable energies in Brazil.

The initiative aims to contribute to the socioeconomic development of the communities where the companies operate, offering free training and new opportunities to the population. These professionals are equipped to work in the electric sector and be part of the Brazilian energy transition.

Diversity and Inclusion

The graduating class stands out for its female presence: of the 26 graduates, 12 are women. This number represents an important advancement in an area traditionally marked by male predominance and reinforces the expansion of women’s access to technical training and the energy sector.

In total, there were 1,200 hours of training focused on designing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems in industrial facilities, with a focus on automation and energy efficiency for wind farms.

For the manager of the Serra do Assuruá Wind Complex, Daniel Mahl, the diploma represents a new perspective for the future for these professionals.

“Seeing young people and adults completing technical training and preparing for the job market reinforces ENGIE’s purpose of contributing to local development through education, professional qualification, and the generation of opportunities. In addition to expanding perspectives for these professionals, this initiative helps strengthen the region’s workforce and prepares communities for the opportunities generated by the growth of the renewable energy sector in Brazil,” he highlights.

“There is a simplified view that the energy transition is resolved only with the expansion of installed capacity. At Vestas, we know that high-performance technology is one of the great pillars of this transformation, and it is precisely this that allows for real gains in efficiency, scale, and competitiveness. But we also understand that this alone does not sustain long-term progress. It is essential to develop the territories where we operate, forming new talents, strengthening local supply chains, and creating conditions for these regions to evolve alongside the sector. This is how we give substance to our ESG commitment: combining cutting-edge innovation with local development to ensure a consistent, fair, resilient energy transition with real impact,” said Luciana Leite, Marketing, Communication, and ESG Strategist at Vestas for Latin America.

The manager of SENAI North also reaffirmed the institution’s purpose

For the manager of SENAI North, Aline Dias, the training reaffirms the institution’s purpose: “The purpose of SENAI Bahia is to transform stories through professional education. This means redefining personal and professional trajectories, converting experiences into engines of growth, inspiration, and building a solid legacy. With the qualification of 26 new Electrotechnical technicians in the region of Gentio do Ouro, in partnership with major industries like Engie and Vestas, we contribute directly to strengthening the industrial sector, providing the market with qualified professionals prepared for the challenges of the area. In this way, we boost employability, value local labor, and, most importantly, promote the life transformation of each student graduated through education.”
