Natália Resende, state secretary of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics, stated that the Greater ABC is affected by floods and inundations. She mentioned a historical deficiency of investments in drainage and vulnerability in the Taioca Stream.
Drainage in the Taioca stream will serve 45 thousand residents
The drainage project of the Taioca stream addresses Santo André’s demand to tackle the historical water vulnerability of the watercourse. The intervention aims to reduce flooding risks and improve roads with direct benefits to the population.
The works are expected to reach Jardim Stella, Jardim Cristiane, Jardim Las Vegas, and Jardim Alvorada, benefiting about 45 thousand residents. Also considered in the PPI are interventions planned in macro and micro drainage studies and plans.
Among the bases mentioned are UniversalizaSP, PDMAT 3, and the Regional Macro and Micro Drainage Plan of the Greater ABC. The hiring will be defined by the studies.
Tamanduateí River will have cleaning and desilting
The hiring for cleaning, unclogging, and desilting of the Tamanduateí River in Santo André was also authorized by SP Águas. The planned investment is R$ 30.3 million.
The intervention will be carried out between Avenida André Ramalho and Avenida da Paz, over 4,950 meters. The estimate is to remove 118.7 thousand cubic meters of accumulated sediments.
The service will be done by mechanized excavation, through access roads and banks. The measure aims to increase flow, reduce flooding, and strengthen resilience to extreme weather events.
