New Volkswagen SUV Achieves 2,908 Registrations and Already Appears Among the Ten Best-Sellers in Brazil
The SUV market in Brazil remains strong, and August brought another surprise for the sector. The newly launched Volkswagen Tera managed to debut straight into the top 10 of the most sold models in the country, showing that the German brand got it right with its strategy to compete for space with already established rivals.
In just a few weeks of sales, the Tera reached 2,908 registrations and secured the tenth position in the national ranking of sports utility vehicles.
This performance places Volkswagen with three strong representatives among the most sought after by the Brazilian public: in addition to the Tera, the T-Cross maintained its absolute leadership, and the Nivus also appeared well-placed, reinforcing the brand’s strength in this segment.

Tight Competition at the Top of the Ranking
At the top of the list, the battle was neck and neck. The Volkswagen T-Cross totaled 5,551 units and once again secured first place, but the difference to the Toyota Corolla Cross was minimal: the Japanese model came in second, with 5,538 registrations.
This direct competition between the two SUVs has already solidified as one of the main rivalries in the automotive sector in the country.

Right behind, the Hyundai Creta secured 4,395 units and ensured the third spot, showing steady sales. Fiat also had reasons to celebrate, as it placed the Fastback and the Pulse among the top six, consolidating the Italian brand as one of the main forces in the category.
The Chevrolet Tracker completed the group of the five best-selling models, confirming its good acceptance among urban consumers.
Jeep Loses Ground, Chinese Brands Advance
While Volkswagen and Fiat grew, Jeep felt the opposite movement. After dominating the market in previous years, the American brand now appears only with the Compass in ninth place, with 2,956 units.
The Renegade, which was once a symbol of popularity, dropped to 13th place, far from its best moments.
Meanwhile, Chinese SUVs continue to gain traction in Brazil. The BYD Song registered 1,882 units in August, outpacing the GWM Haval H6, which recorded 1,799 sales.
The growing presence of these models reinforces the shift in Brazilian consumer behavior, which has been giving more space to Asian brands with advanced technology and competitive prices.
Dominant Segment

The survey up to August 24 shows that all ten top SUVs surpassed the mark of two thousand units sold.
This data confirms not only the national preference for this type of vehicle but also the increasing competitiveness among brands. The Tera, even being a newcomer, has already established itself among the highlights and is expected to continue rising until the end of the month.
With this promising debut, Volkswagen increases its relevance in the sector and reinforces its leading role among sports utility vehicles, a segment that continues to grow in popularity among Brazilians.
The competition promises new chapters and, given the current pace, August may be remembered as the month when the Tera showed it has come to challenge the giants.
