Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has consistently pushed for the electrification of equipment in the construction industry. In 2018, several new prototypes of electric trucks were launched for a fully electric quarry project.
Last year, Volvo announced that it would discontinue the development of compact wheel loaders with diesel engines and compact excavators to sell electric versions. Today, they are announcing that they have begun deliveries of electric construction trucks to real customers.

The Volvo Group Announced in a Press Release:
On December 17, the first delivery of a Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) electric truck and the first fully electric Volvo FE truck took place in France, thus accelerating the long-term transformation to more sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions in the construction industry.
The French contractor Eiffage received a fully electric Volvo FE Electric truck and a Volvo ECR25 Electric compact excavator, which are now being put to work on the Grand Paris Express transport project in the French capital.
Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE, Commented on the First Delivery:
Today’s deliveries of this electric truck and construction machine are the beginning of a revolution in transport and infrastructure solutions. Make no mistake, electric machines will not remain a niche market. Over the next years and decades, they will become the dominant source of power with low or zero emissions. When combined with clean energy, their potential to support climate change goals, improve air quality, and help build the world we all want to live in cannot be underestimated. I am very pleased that we are starting this journey with friends like Eiffage.
