Electric Buses of Transcol Feature Mercedes-Benz Chassis, Caio Body, and WEG Electric Motors and Batteries
WEG announced, in a relevant fact, that it was one of the partners in the development of four electric buses, providing inverters, electric motors, and batteries for a new fleet of Transcol, the metropolitan public transport system of Vitória, in Espírito Santo.
The vehicles that are 100% nationally manufactured, being the first electric buses produced in Latin America, are part of a set of investments made by the operating consortia in partnership with the Government of the State of Espírito Santo.
Electric Giant Has a Range of Up to 150km, 12.5 Meters Long, and Capacity for 70 Passengers
Called e-bus, the electric buses have a range to cover 120 to 150km with opportunity charging, and a maximum speed of 60km/h.

The first vehicle began its operation in October, on line 515, which runs from Terminal de Laranjeiras to Terminal de Campo Grande, via Avenida Beira-Mar. The other three units are expected to start operating this November.
The electric giant measures 12.5 meters long and has capacity for 70 passengers. With 100% national manufacturing, they were produced by Eletra, in partnership with major national companies, including: Mercedes-Benz (chassis), Caio (body), and WEG (inverters, electric motors, and batteries).
WEG is Determined to Gain Ground in Electric Mobility and Launches Battery Packs for Electric Vehicles
Determined to gain ground in electric mobility, WEG recently announced the production of battery packs for electric vehicles. The packs are customizable, involving several modules, lithium-ion cells, and electronic management systems, cooling, and safety systems, among other items.
The new e-buses also include WEG’s Powertrain technology, consisting of motors and inverters for the traction and auxiliary systems that also have battery regeneration functions. All items are of national design and production, eligible to be financed through FINAME.
