The new Honda XR 300 L Tornado 2025 was one of the standout stars at the 2024 Interlagos Festival, reviving the legacy of the old 250 in a completely new and more powerful package.

According to a comprehensive evaluation of the model conducted in partnership with Honda Motos Brasil, the new Tornado is set to be the option with the greatest off-road vocation in the brand’s 300cc line. The analysis details the changes, performance, and the points that a potential buyer needs to know about the return of this legend.

The Honda XR 300 L Tornado 2025 was officially presented at the 2024 Interlagos Festival, to the surprise of many. The motorcycle comes to succeed the iconic XR 250 Tornado, which was sold in Brazil between 2001 and 2008 and left a legion of fans.

With an engine of 293.5 cubic centimeters, the Honda XR 300 L Tornado 2025 reaches 160 km/h and achieves up to 32 km per liter

The engine of the new Tornado is the same single-cylinder unit of 293.5 cubic centimeters that equips the Sahara 300. With a SOHC valve timing and FlexOne technology, it delivers 24.8 horsepower and 2.74 kgf.m of torque with ethanol.

However, Honda made some fine adjustments for the Tornado. The final gear crown is smaller (39 teeth compared to 40 on the Sahara), which causes the torque to arrive earlier, an ideal characteristic for off-road use.

Tornado vs. Sahara: The Main Differences Between The Sisters

Although they share the same base, the Honda XR 300 L Tornado 2025 and the Sahara 300 are motorcycles with different proposals.

Suspension and Chassis: The Tornado has a rear suspension that is 2 mm longer and a more open caster angle, plus gaiter protectors at the front, all aimed at improving off-road performance.

Weight: The Tornado is 3 kg lighter than the Sahara.

Ergonomics: The Tornado is taller (89 cm seat height), has off-road footpegs (without rubber), and an articulated gear shift pedal.

Equipment: The Tornado does not come with a USB port and the Emergency Braking System (ESS), which are standard on the Sahara.

Fuel Economy And Maximum Speed

The new Tornado has proven to be an economical motorcycle for its displacement. Fuel consumption, according to the test, varies with the riding style:

Aggressive Riding: Fuel consumption ranges between 22 and 25 km/l.
Normal Riding: In a more relaxed ride, the motorcycle can achieve between 30 and 32 km/l.

The maximum speed, in turn, can reach 160 km/h, with the test recording 156 km/h.

The Price Of The Legend In 2025 And The Missing Points

The price is an important point. The suggested price by Honda for the Honda XR 300 L Tornado 2025 is R$ 27,690 (excluding shipping). However, the price practiced at dealerships can reach R$ 32,500.

Despite being highly praised, the evaluation pointed out some negative points. The main one is the lack of an ABS system that can be turned off at the rear wheel, an important feature for off-road. The absence of a sixth gear to ease the engine on highways and a gear indicator on the dashboard were also mentioned as criticisms.
