Yamaha Launches New Scooter in 2024, Highlighting Its Fuel Efficiency and High Performance, with an Approximate Price of R$ 12 Thousand in Direct Conversion.

The Yamaha introduced the RayZR 2024, its newest budget scooter, at the prestigious EICMA 2023, the Milan Motorcycle Show. This economical model combines modern design with cost efficiency, establishing itself as an attractive option in the market. The price of the RayZR 2024 is set at 2,290 euros, approximately R$ 12 thousand in direct conversion based on current exchange rates.

New Scooter: Yamaha Economical Scooter Delivers Up to 8.1 Horsepower

So far, Yamaha has not confirmed whether the RayZR model will be made available in the Brazilian market, but it certainly represents an attractive alternative for urban mobility. Equipped with a 125 cc single-cylinder engine, the economical RayZR offers 8.1 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 9.7 nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The vehicle also features a CVT automatic transmission.

One of the highlights of the economical scooter is the Electric Power Assist system, which provides an additional electric boost during takeoff. Additionally, the RayZR is equipped with Start&Stop technology, which automatically shuts off the engine at stops and quickly restarts it when needed.

These features contribute to an impressive average fuel consumption of 55 km/l, according to data provided by Yamaha. Light and agile, the new RayZR weighs only 99 kg in running order, including a fuel tank with a capacity of 5.2 liters and other fluids.

The model also features LED lights, a digital LCD panel, a combined braking system, and a convenient under-seat storage compartment. Set to arrive at Yamaha’s European stores next year, the model will be available in red and black.

Manufacturer Also Launches Electric Model

Yamaha expands its portfolio with the introduction of a new electric scooter in the European market, aligning with its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and moving towards a more sustainable future. The Neo’s, Yamaha’s first electric scooter launched in Europe, stands out with its modern and compact design, featuring rounded lines and a dual LED headlight that catches attention at the front.

This innovative model has its motor located in the rear wheel hub, offering a maximum power of 2.06 kW (equivalent to 2.8 horsepower) and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 40 km/h.

The electric scooter Neo’s comes equipped with two riding modes: the STD mode, which unleashes the motor’s maximum power, and the Eco mode, which limits the power to 1.58 kW and the maximum speed to 35 km/h, optimizing energy consumption. The Neo’s lithium-ion battery is removable, with a capacity of 50.4V and 19.2 Ah, making the recharging process easier.

BYD Decides to Enter the Electric Scooters Market

The BYD, a giant from China that operates in the electric car production sector, now announces that it will enter the electric scooters market. In fact, the company’s participation will be indirect in this segment. In 2021, the Singapore electric vehicle startup, Scorpio Electric, revealed its first electric scooter, called the X1. At that time, still as a concept, the electric scooter seemed to reflect the growing trend of maxi-scooters.

Now, almost two years after the concept design announcement, scooters have witnessed substantial growth, especially in the European market. Thus, the model recently announced significant development on the X1, BYD’s scooter. At the Nexus Europe 2023 conference in Madrid, Spain, Scorpio Electric explained that it was in the process of finalizing the Pre-Production Prototypes of its X1 scooter.
