Chinese Manufacturer Is A Global Reference In Heavy Electric Vehicles
Vale Mining Company, located in Minas Gerais, will receive 143 heavy electric vehicles that were recently unloaded at the Port of São Francisco do Sul. In total, US$ 20 million will be spent – an amount equivalent to R$ 100 million – on electric trucks, excavators, and forklifts.
The vehicles to be delivered to the mining company are from the Chinese brand XCMG, a global reference among manufacturers of large electric vehicles. Founded in 1943, XCMG is the largest group of companies in the construction machinery industry in China, with the widest variety and series of products, and the most competitive and influential in the sector.
Electric Vehicles Can Operate All Day Without Stopping To Recharge
With modern technology, electric vehicles have lithium batteries and are capable of operating all day in mines without needing to stop to recharge. These batteries have a surprising size: they measure 2 meters in height and 2.4 meters in width, located right behind the cabin of the vehicle.

While in Brazil a 10-story building takes 2 years to complete, in China a company stacks pre-fabricated modules and raises the entire building in just 28 hours and 45 minutes.
The heavy equipment with zero emissions that will operate in iron ore, nickel, and copper mines costs an average of US$ 135,000, or R$ 675,000. What’s more incredible is that they were all brought on a single Chinese ship to the Port of São Francisco do Sul in Santa Catarina.
Port of São Francisco do Sul Is Known For Agile And Safe Transport Of Machines
“Ports are strategic to our economy, which is why we created the State Secretariat for Ports, Airports, and Railways. Santa Catarina is the only state in Brazil with five competitive ports that can export to anywhere in the world and import products to the South and Southeast regions much more quickly than our competitors,” says Governor Jorginho Mello.
According to the port president, Cleverton Vieira, “as a multimodal port, the Port of São Francisco do Sul has the capacity to handle high-tech equipment, offering safety and agility in transporting these more fragile loads.”
“Following the direction of Governor Jorginho Mello, we are transforming the port, along with the port operators, offering conditions to be a viable alternative for all types of cargo, in addition to those traditionally handled in São Francisco, such as steel, grains, and timber,” concludes Vieira.
