Used models with flex engines offer low consumption, competitive trunk space, and safety equipment at different price ranges, with urban and sedan options aimed at those who drive a lot and seek economy without opting for a brand-new hybrid.

Used cars with a flex engine remain an alternative for drivers who drive a lot and do not want to bear the cost of a brand-new hybrid, especially in price ranges below the new hybrid models available in the Brazilian market.

Among the models listed starting from the range of R$ 50,000, there are options with reduced consumption, trunks above 460 liters in sedans, a safety package with up to six airbags, and connectivity features present in specific versions.

The selection includes Chevrolet Onix Plus, Fiat Mobi, Peugeot 208, and Hyundai HB20S, all with versions equipped with a 1.0 naturally aspirated flex engine and manual transmission, a common combination among models aimed at fuel economy.

The consumption averages are based on measurements from Inmetro or information from manufacturers and specialized publications based on the official vehicle labeling program, which compares energy efficiency under standardized evaluation conditions.

Advertisement values vary according to model year, mileage, condition, region, vehicle history, and equipment package, factors that can significantly alter the final price on used platforms.

In offers available on Mercado Livre, the Onix Plus LT manual appeared for R$ 50,977, while the HB20S Comfort manual was found for R$ 63,967 in ads for used or semi-new units.

Used Chevrolet Onix Plus has consumption of up to 17.1 km/l

Among the four models gathered, the Chevrolet Onix Plus shows the highest highway consumption reported for equivalent versions with a 1.0 naturally aspirated flex engine and six-speed manual transmission.

In this configuration, the sedan records averages close to 13.9 km/l in the city and 17.1 km/l on the highway with gasoline, according to data attributed to Inmetro for versions with the same mechanical set.

The sedan body shape also affects aerodynamic performance, as this type of design usually favors air flow at constant speed compared to bodies with a more abrupt rear.

This combination helps explain the presence of the Onix Plus among the most economical used cars in the selection, especially for drivers who alternate urban routes with frequent highway trips.

In the LT 1.0 manual version, the sedan features an engine of up to 82 hp and 10.6 kgfm, in addition to the manual transmission with six gears, a less common solution among entry-level compacts with a naturally aspirated engine.

According to Chevrolet’s catalog information, current entry-level versions of the Onix Plus include six airbags, a key with proximity sensor, MyLink center, and 15-inch steel wheels.

With a capacity of 469 liters, the trunk meets the needs of drivers who frequently transport luggage, including families, users who travel regularly, and professionals who depend on extra space for everyday use.

Equipment such as a rear camera, alloy wheels, induction charger, and superior interior finish may appear in more expensive versions or optional packages, depending on the model year and the announced configuration.

Fiat Mobi Firefly targets urban use and simple maintenance

In the selection, the Fiat Mobi occupies the subcompact range, with smaller external dimensions and a proposal mainly aimed at urban use, where reduced size and consumption weigh in the purchase decision.

The update that incorporated the 1.0 Firefly flex engine brought to the model a more recent mechanical set within the Stellantis line, replacing previous configurations that used an older engine design.

Associated with the five-speed manual transmission, the 1.0 Firefly engine delivers up to 74 hp and 9.7 kgfm, numbers compatible with the Mobi’s urban proposal and its market range.

For the latest Mobi, disclosed data indicates a consumption of about 14 km/l in the city and 15.1 km/l on the highway with gasoline, while ethanol is around 9.8 km/l and 10.6 km/l.

As the Firefly equips different Stellantis models, the supply of components tends to be broad in the maintenance network, although the actual cost depends on the region, availability of parts, and the usage history of each vehicle.

Before purchasing, the analysis should consider recorded revisions, mileage, tire and suspension condition, any fleet usage, and previous use, points that directly affect the cost of ownership.

In the Like version, the Mobi offers air conditioning, electric steering, front electric windows, electric locks, rear wiper and defogger, as well as a height-adjustable steering wheel in more recent units.

The arrival of the Firefly engine to the Mobi was confirmed by Stellantis, which also maintained basic comfort items in the package, preserving the subcompact’s positioning among the brand’s entry-level options.

Surveys on consultable Mercado Livre pages show greater variation than observed in previous investigations, reflecting the difference between model year, mileage, version, region, and condition of conservation.

In these offers, the Mobi appears starting at around R$ 55 thousand, and 2025 units emerge with values frequently above R$ 57 thousand, according to the criteria informed in each ad.

Peugeot 208 1.0 delivers modern look and good consumption

The Peugeot 208 is included in the list as a compact hatch of the current generation, with a project developed for global markets and sold in Brazil in versions with a 1.0 naturally aspirated flex engine and manual transmission.

Compared to entry-level compacts of older design, the model adopts a cabin with design solutions typical of the brand, such as an elevated dashboard and a smaller diameter steering wheel in certain versions.

In the 1.0 naturally aspirated configurations, the 208 uses a flex engine of up to 75 hp and 10.7 kgfm, always associated with a five-speed manual transmission in the versions evaluated within this price range.

Data released for the 2025 model indicates that fuel consumption with gasoline can exceed 16 km/l in highway cycle, depending on the version, model year, and table considered.

The Like and Active versions usually concentrate the most accessible offer, with air conditioning, electric steering, hill start assist, four airbags, and steel wheels with hubcaps.

Multimedia center, interior finish, daytime lights, rear camera, and other convenience items vary according to the model year, version, and any packages included in the advertised vehicle.

In the 1.0 manual range, the 208 Style gathers items of visual appeal and convenience, such as alloy wheels, larger multimedia center, LED daytime lights, and differentiated interior finish, according to the year consulted.

Market evaluations and surveys also associate certain units of the 208 Style with full LED headlights and a panoramic sunroof, but the presence of these items should be individually confirmed in each advertisement.

In searches for used Peugeot 208 on Mercado Livre, the offer includes units in the range of R$ 50,000, although examples of the current generation and with lower mileage usually appear for higher values.

Thus, comparing advertisements requires attention to the version, year of manufacture, equipment package, maintenance history, and the condition reported by the seller.

Hyundai HB20S Comfort combines six airbags and 475-liter trunk

Among the sedans on the list, the Hyundai HB20S appears as an option with a trunk of greater declared capacity, aimed at buyers who prioritize luggage space without abandoning the 1.0 naturally aspirated engine.

The current generation arrived in the Brazilian market in 2019 and received a facelift in the 2023 line, when Hyundai altered the external design and reinforced the offer of equipment in different versions.

In configurations with a 1.0 naturally aspirated flex engine and five-speed manual transmission, the HB20S delivers up to 80 hp and 10.2 kgfm, numbers close to those of other naturally aspirated compacts in the segment.

Data released for the latest line indicates consumption of 9.7 km/l in the city and 10.9 km/l on the highway with ethanol, in addition to 13.4 km/l and 15.4 km/l with gasoline.

The Comfort version frequently appears among the entry-level offers of the sedan, especially in ads for used or semi-new units with a 1.0 aspirated engine and manual transmission.

In an ad available on Mercado Livre, an HB20S Comfort 1.0 manual unit was found for R$ 63,967, a value subject to variations in mileage, location, condition, and commercial terms.

The equipment package includes six airbags in current versions, with front, side, and curtain bags, in addition to features like hill-start assist, rearview camera, cruise control, and speed limiter in specific configurations.

Information released by Hyundai and the Caoa network highlights the set of six airbags in the HB20S line, a relevant item in a market segment where not all used cars offer the same package.

With 475 liters, the trunk is the largest among the four models mentioned and meets the needs of buyers who need to transport luggage, travel bags, or larger objects for family and professional use.

Technical sheet bases and catalog indicate this capacity for the current generation of the sedan, but checking the model year remains necessary before purchase, especially in transition units.

Above the Comfort, the Limited version may add 15-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, chrome exterior handles, and a digital color instrument panel in certain lines.

Despite the broader package, the HB20S Limited maintains the 1.0 aspirated engine in the mentioned configurations, which preserves the same consumption profile compared to equivalent manual versions.

In the comparison among the four models, the Onix Plus gathers the best reported highway consumption numbers, while the HB20S presents the largest declared trunk among the listed options.

Meanwhile, the Mobi focuses on the urban proposal and the widely present Firefly engine in the Stellantis line, while the 208 appears as a compact 1.0 hatch with the most recent design within the selection.
