Used Models With Great Cost-Effectiveness Go Unnoticed in the Market, But Can Impress With Their Space, Economy, and Robustness
There are cars that are being ignored by Brazilians, even offering attributes that please those looking for economy, reliability, and interior space. Often, these models go off the radar due to their design, unjust reputation, or being out of production, but that does not diminish their qualities.
In this survey, we highlight five used vehicles that combine good engines, simple maintenance, and comfort — and that could be great opportunities for those who want to avoid the obvious models and make a good deal.
1. Fiat Grand Siena

The Fiat Grand Siena was an evolution of the traditional Siena, with a more modern design, a trunk of 520 liters, and good interior space. It is common to find it with a 1.4 or 1.6 engine and manual transmission — the automated version should be avoided.
-
The Toyota Hilux is R$ 75.5 thousand cheaper and bets on the 2.8 turbodiesel engine with up to 204 hp and 50.9 kgfm to catch up with the VW Saveiro, which leads with 4,472 sales.
-
The new Renault Koleos has a screen exclusively for the passenger that is invisible to the driver, heated rear seats, and 29 assistance systems, but its Chinese competitors cost R$ 40,000 less and deliver more power.
-
The car stored for 38 years: when opening the barn door, what appears is breathtaking and looks like a scene from a movie!
-
Fiat works miracles in the Brazilian market, lowers the price of its 0 km hatch to R$ 69,990, reestablishes the model as the cheapest car in the country, and reignites the battle against Kwid and C3.
Although practical and reliable, it is one of the cars that are being ignored at used car dealerships. Its average fuel consumption is around 7 km/l with ethanol and 10 km/l with gasoline in the city. On the highway, it reaches 12.7 km/l.
2015 units with a 1.4 engine can be found for around R$ 36,000 on the Fipe Table, making it a great option for those wanting a sedan with low maintenance costs.
2. Chevrolet Cobalt

The Chevrolet Cobalt stands out for its spacious interior and comfort. Its understated look and non-daring design helped to alienate part of the audience, but it offers good performance with the 1.8 engine and well-equipped versions.
Fuel consumption with gasoline reaches 15 km/l on the highway. It is possible to find 2016 LTZ units for R$ 55,000, with leather seats and MyLink multimedia. A robust car, easy to maintain, and still ignored by many buyers.
3. Ford EcoSport Storm

The EcoSport Storm is the most equipped version of Ford’s SUV, featuring a 2.0 Duratec engine, 4×4 traction, and conventional automatic transmission — unlike the problematic Powershift. It was designed for those seeking robustness and adventurous style.
Even though it is complete, safe, and strong, it has made the list of cars that are being ignored due to the end of Ford’s operations in Brazil. However, there is still ample supply of parts and technical support.
With a consumption of up to 11.5 km/l on the highway, the 2019 model costs around R$ 78,000, being one of the best off-road options below R$ 80,000.
4. Nissan Versa (1st Generation)

The Nissan Versa is one of the most spacious compact sedans in the category. With a wheelbase of 2.60 m and a trunk of 460 liters, it suits families and ride-share drivers well. The problem? Its design is underestimated by many.
Versions with a 1.6 flex engine deliver up to 111 hp and a consumption of up to 15 km/l on the highway. It is possible to buy a 2016 Versa for R$ 50,000, even with features like power steering, digital air conditioning, and good finishing.
Easy to maintain, reliable, and comfortable, it is one of the cars that are being ignored but deliver much more than they appear to.
5. Toyota Etios

Ugly to some, excellent to others. The Toyota Etios may have a controversial look, but it is known for its durability and efficiency. With 1.3 or 1.5 engines, it delivers honest performance and an average consumption of up to 14.9 km/l on the highway.
The central dashboard still generates controversies, but that does not affect the quality of the car. 2017 versions with a 1.5 engine can be purchased for R$ 49,000, with air conditioning, power steering, and good interior space.
Ignored due to its appearance, the Etios is one of the used cars most reliable on the market, with simple maintenance and recognized longevity.
