At the Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex — COMPERJ, operations for the construction of the Submarine Effluent Emissary are at the final stages of completion. Did you know that more than 50 Comperj workers were fired last week for clocking out 15 minutes before the end of their shift?

The works had been halted since 2014, as determined by former mayor Quaquá, due to non-compliance with requirements for counterparty obligations for the project.

In June, the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, attended a breakfast organized by the LIDE Business Council (Group of Business Leaders) in Rio.

Freitas reported that the government has plans to connect the Vitória-Minas Railway, operated by Vale, to the Açu port, passing through the petrochemical hub Comperj, in Rio de Janeiro.

Freitas highlighted that the investment will be allocated to provide infrastructure for the Açu Port in São João da Barra, in the North of the State of Rio.

He stated that he intends to extend the Vitória-Minas Railway to Rio. To achieve this, he mentioned intending to use resources from the extension of the MRS Logística contract and federal government resources.
