Completely Renewed, The Next Mitsubishi L200 Triton Arrives in Brazil in 2025 with a New Platform, More Technology, and an Enhanced Engine to Maintain Its Reputation and Compete with Segment Leaders
The arrival of the sixth generation of the Mitsubishi L200 Triton in Brazil, scheduled for 2025, marks a turning point for the iconic pickup truck. With a complete renewal, the first in nearly a decade, the Japanese brand aims not only to honor the established reputation of robustness of the model but also to elevate it to a new level of design, technology, and performance to compete head-on in the competitive mid-size pickup market.
This new era of the Mitsubishi L200 Triton is the result of a global strategic investment that leverages the synergies of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance to deliver a more modern and competitive product, without giving up on the adventurous DNA that made it famous.
The Strategic Importance of the New Generation of the Mitsubishi L200 Triton
The new Mitsubishi L200 Triton is a “global strategic vehicle,” with over 5.7 million units produced throughout its history and sold in 150 countries. Its development was guided by the concept “Power for Adventure,” which aims to enhance its qualities while preserving its essence.

Peugeot publicly acknowledged the errors of the PureTech engine, which caused serious failures in hundreds of thousands of cars, and introduced the new Turbo 100 as a definitive solution, a 1.2 turbo tested for over 3 million kilometers that replaces the faulty belt with a more durable chain.

Automatic cars become ‘cheap’ in Brazil, and models from Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, and Honda appear for R$ 65,000 with up to 120 hp, CVT transmission, 482 liters of trunk space, keyless entry, and six airbags to tackle traffic without a clutch.

Honda revives a classic from Brazilian streets with a new name, TFT panel, and reprogrammed engine in the 2027 lineup; see the first impressions of the CB500 Hornet, which arrives with 49.6 hp, 4.5 kgf.m torque, 6-speed gearbox, 175 kg, and Showa suspension on Brazilian streets.

Without relying on an outlet, without a cable, and without the gasoline engine driving the wheels: Nissan created the Note e-POWER, a hatchback that always runs on an electric motor while a combustion engine works only as a generator, delivering to Japan a type of “electric without recharging” that Brazil is almost unfamiliar with.
The renewal is intrinsically linked to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The new Triton uses a shared platform with the Nissan Frontier, a strategy that allows for reduced development costs and accelerates the introduction of modern technologies, such as a new chassis architecture and advanced safety systems. Mitsubishi’s challenge is to use this common base to create a product with its own identity.
A Look at the New Design and Enhanced Dimensions

The pickup has been completely redesigned, featuring a more angular, muscular, and imposing design, abandoning the rounded lines of the previous generation. The front adopts the brand’s “Dynamic Shield” design language, with divided headlights and a wide front grille.
The interior has also been redesigned to offer more space, comfort, and a superior finish. The dashboard adopts a horizontal design, and the materials have been improved. The new Mitsubishi L200 Triton has also grown: it is 8 cm longer, 9 cm wider, and has a wheelbase 13 cm longer, resulting in more stability and interior space.
Brave Heart and 4×4 Technology, The New Mechanical Set of the Mitsubishi L200 Triton
The new Mitsubishi L200 Triton will be equipped in Brazil with a new 2.4-liter diesel engine (4N16), with bi-turbo technology in some versions. It delivers 205 hp of power and a torque of 47.9 kgf.m, available from 1,500 rpm. The transmission will predominantly be a 6-speed automatic.
One of its greatest strengths, the Super Select 4WD II traction system, has been maintained and improved, now featuring seven terrain modes (Normal, ECO, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock). With good approach angles (29°/31°), ramp (24°), and departure (23°), and a ground clearance of 222 mm, the pickup is prepared to maintain its reputation in off-road conditions. Its load capacity is 1,080 kg, and towing capacity is 3,500 kg.
More Safety, Connectivity, and Convenience Onboard
The new generation of the Mitsubishi L200 Triton marks a significant leap in technology. The pickup will come equipped with a comprehensive package of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind spot monitoring (BSW), and lane-keeping assist (LKA). The availability of seven airbags as standard is another highlight.
The interior features a modern multimedia center with a 9-inch screen, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an instrument panel with a 7-inch digital display. Features such as wireless phone charging, dual-zone air conditioning, and a keyless entry complete the package.
The Mitsubishi L200 Triton 2025 in the Brazilian Market
Produced at the factory in Catalão (GO), the new Mitsubishi L200 Triton is expected to have a range of versions with estimated prices between R$ 249,990 (GL MT) and R$ 329,990 (Katana), although the brand’s website already indicates prices starting from R$ 335,990 for a possible launch version.
This positioning puts it in direct competition with the top-of-the-line versions of its main rivals, such as the Ford Ranger V6 (250 hp) and the Toyota Hilux GR-Sport (224 hp). Mitsubishi bets on the combination of efficient engine, cutting-edge technology, and the superiority of its Super Select II traction system to justify the investment and attract consumers looking for a modern, safe pickup with undeniable off-road capability.
