Polar air mass continues to advance over Brazil during the first week of June, causing a significant drop in temperatures in the South, Southeast, and Midwest, reaching part of the Northeast, recording lows below 5°C in elevated areas, and still favoring the occurrence of rain in various stretches of the Brazilian coast until the end of the week
A polar air mass advances through Brazil in the first week of June and keeps low temperatures in different regions of the country.
According to information from the Meteored portal, the cold will be more intense in the South and Southeast, especially between Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3.
The phenomenon also influences areas of the Midwest and, to a lesser extent, part of the Northeast.

This system is caused by a high pressure over the Atlantic Ocean, which allows the entry of cold air over Brazilian territory.

Paraná and Santa Catarina enter the path of more intense cold
The states of Paraná and Santa Catarina are expected to concentrate the strongest effects of the polar air mass this week.
In these areas, minimum temperatures should range between 7°C and 15°C, according to the forecast highlighted by Meteored.
Higher regions may record marks below 5°C, especially during the early hours of the day.
The mornings of Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3, are expected to be the coldest of the period.
Southeast will also have a sharp drop in temperatures
In the Southeast, the four states should feel the influence of the cold air throughout the week. In the south of Minas Gerais, temperatures may reach 10°C or less. In the rest of the state, lows should vary between 12°C and 17°C.
In São Paulo, temperatures range between 10°C and 16°C, while Rio de Janeiro should record values between 13°C and 18°C.
In Espírito Santo, the forecasted lows range between 13°C and 21°C.
Rain on the coast accompanies the advance of the cold air mass
The drop in temperatures also alters the rainfall regime in parts of the country.
Atmospheric circulation transports moisture to areas of eastern Brazil and increases cloudiness on the coast.
On Tuesday, June 2, light rains should hit the coastal strip between Paraná and Bahia.
The coast of Espírito Santo requires attention, as there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain.
Between Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 4, light showers should reach the east of Santa Catarina, Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Bahia and parts of Minas Gerais.
The day should start with sun between clouds, but the rain tends to increase during the afternoon.
On Friday, June 5, the weather becomes more stable and firm, with a low probability of precipitation.
Accumulations may reach 40 mm by the end of the week
The forecasted rainfall accumulations by the end of the week vary between 5 mm and 40 mm.
The highest volumes should concentrate on the coast of Espírito Santo and Bahia.
The moisture coming from the ocean maintains conditions for rain in coastal areas, even with the prevailing cold.
The Brazilian coast remains a point of attention during the passage of the polar air mass.
Cold advances through the Midwest and reaches part of the Northeast
In the Midwest, the cold consolidates mainly over Mato Grosso do Sul.
In the southern portion of the state, temperatures may fall below 15°C.
Goiás should also experience a drop in temperatures, with mornings between 14°C and 17°C.
In the Northeast, the arrival of cold air will be more noticeable starting Friday, June 5, especially in Bahia.
Until then, mornings should vary between 16°C and 21°C.
With the advance of the polar mass, the forecast indicates a drop of 1°C to 2°C.
Cities like Vitória da Conquista may record lows close to 14°C.
The first week of June continues to be marked by cold, coastal rain, and chilly mornings in various regions of Brazil.
