million dollar offshore scaffolding access

Imagine the complexity of shutting down a plant that produces 15 million dollars a day! The equipment needs to undergo maintenance to guarantee the levels of availability and reliability of the operation. For most of these maintenances are used access by scaffolding.

The regulatory standard (NR-18) determines that scaffolding must be dimensioned and constructed in order to safely support the workloads to which it will be subject. It is mandatory that they have baseboards, guardrail system, stairs, level non-slip flooring and complete coating.

In this scenario, the importance of creating an access plan for all work fronts is evident. An efficient access plan should contain:

  • Map identifying the locations.
  • Quantitative and qualitative material.
  • Structure complexity level.
  • Possible grouping of services to be performed by each access.
  • Assembly/disassembly period
  • Adjustment control.
  • Percentage of spare equipment.
  • Material movement control.
  • Cost estimates.
  • Registration of professionals qualified to carry out assembly and design.
  • The access plan minimizes risks in the planning execution.
  • It controls costs and guarantees the safety of professionals.
