The end of April was not good news for the working class. Accidents at work killed two workers who provided services to Petrobras at the terminal in São Sebastião (SP) and in an oil field in Rio Grande do Norte.
The fatal accident at the São Sebastião (SP) terminal happened while the employee Marcelo Bezerra do Nascimento was participating in the maneuvers of the Transpetro ship Milton Santos.
The vessel would have been adrift on the coast of São Paulo because of a storm. the ship was “thrown” towards Ilha Bela due to winds of more than 100 Km/h and would have collided with a pier, according to the Single Federation of Oil Workers (FUP), the ship would be out of control and loaded with oil during the maneuver .

The other accident that killed André de Seixas da Silva, an employee hired by Trasnbet, occurred in production well 7-ET-0376-RN, in the Estreito field, in the municipality of Carnaubais (RN).
The worker was hit by a bucket while cleaning the base of the well. The two workers were taken alive to the hospital, but did not resist their injuries.
The FUP released a note stating that the accidents prove the poor working conditions to which workers in the Petrobras system are subjected and stressed that the deaths are consequences of the precarious conditions of the facilities, the reduction of operating costs and staff.
Transpetro regretted what happened and declared that it is providing all assistance to the family of worker Marcelo Bezerra, while Petrobras preferred not to comment on the matter.
