An act of heroism by a mother on May 3rd of this year caught the attention of Brazil. A mother managed to rescue six children from a fire in a studio apartment in the morning in Itapema, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina. The fire started around 8:25 AM, in the Morretes neighborhood, reached the property at the back of a lot, and destroyed the residence. No one was injured.

According to the resident’s account to the firefighters, one of the children noticed the fire inside the room and alerted the mother. She managed to evacuate all occupants before the rescue teams arrived.

Firefighters found property engulfed in flames
The Military Fire Brigade of Santa Catarina was called and, upon arrival, found the studio apartment completely in flames. The teams began direct firefighting with attack lines.
In addition to controlling the flames, the firefighters isolated the area and protected neighboring buildings. This measure prevented the fire from spreading to other properties on the lot or nearby.
